Box to box strong and quick give him another season I think he will be a stick on for the squad.

Peppino Impastato
I would like one more campaign out of Fletcher. His intelligence and quality on the ball and composure and experience could be very important for us. I like the idea of him sitting and pulling the strings for us and organising slowing things down a bit talking likes of mcginn through games. I actually think though he's not as good as he was we might see the best of him in this campaign in some ways, for Scotland, in a way we haven't yet. And he's always been a fantastic servant and example, would be fitting if he got to a tournament. Maybe should be captain too, probably makes sense with Tierney deputising. We were better when he came back last time round that's for sure. We have a lot of good young centre midfielders coming through but no one with Brown's ability and experience. The closest we have are Fletcher (legs nearly gone) and MacArthur both who are currently worse than Brown. We are in a period of transition which means a weaker first 11 now but gives us a chance to play a very young side that can improve.
Jarballs
Have never seen a Scotland player more over-rated than Scott Brown. Not to say he wasn't decent - he was, even good on his day but nothing more. Never had a major problem with him (except that he played for one of the gruesome twosome obviously) until he 'retired' from international football but then decided to come back when it suited him for a big game against England. I think it takes the piss and devalues the national team if certain players can pick and choose as they wish, whether that was actually the case or not it certainly appeared that way to many Scotland fans. The blame really lies with the Scotland manager and the SFA I suppose. Once you say you don't want to be considered for selection again that should be it - especially with the likes of Stephen Fletcher, to use a different example. Maybe 'Broony' really was begged out of retirement for a last hurrah against the Auld Enemy, personally I think he was taking the piss. Either way, didn't do us much good in the end, did it? We did better in the second half of the campaign with him. It's results on the park that matter - we aren't exactly in a position to be very picky about who plays. True that we're not in a position to be picky and that the second half of the campaign went better while he was in the squad, how much it had to do with him is an argument which could go on perpetually. I'm more concerned about the example it sets for players coming through, EG. if you're a valued or favoured player you can pick and choose games as you like. That's not just an observation on Scott Brown, and as I said previously it's not really his fault but the ones who select the team. I suppose it's the discussion about how much you want to push the point of principle, the whole "no-one is bigger than the team" debate.
