Spoke to a Hurlford commitee man yesterday who works at the park on a DAILY BASIS and he was telling me the problem is the drainage system inside Blair Park is full of sand due to the amount of sand spread on the playing surface over the past 2or3 seasons ,however maybe he was fibbing emoji4.png

Until the pitch situation is sorted I think it will be difficult for Darren to get Hurlford back to where they were. 1 win at home from 8 where as 3 wins and 3 draws away from home tells the story . The answer could be 4G ?

I was told that the drains were cleared in the close season of all sand that caused us problems last season. Of course, if we've been pouring sand down since ....

I would have to say guys your wrong, there is no issue with too much sand on the playing surface, we are aware of a lengthy drain that is blocked and like a Boars pr**k this needs to be replaced, other areas are in need of new drains also, when water does drain from the park it obviously has to go somewhere but unfortunately the drain outside of park is inoperative so water just lies where it is. Without going into detail in the close season plans are afoot. Last year the park was subsoiled in an attempt at sorting out the problem but hasn't obviously been as successful as hoped.

Is the park playable at the minute? Is it even recovering during the week enough when it has been dry to make it playable, or is it really bad that even if a few dry days the game would still be in doubt?

My info is all second hand but my understanding from the texts I've had is that it takes the pitch a few days to dry out so would be playable now. But as heavy rain is forecast it is unlikely to be on tomorrow. Looks like another day watching the egg chasers.

Heard a wee rumour United are getting the pitch sorted at long last a mob coming from down South that specialise in drainage will be carrying out a weeks worth of work ASAP £30k not cheap but Defoe the right thing to do.
