Free this weekend on PSN so I've heard, will need to give it a bash.

Give it a go mate, i found it most fun I the initial weekends when no one knew how the characters worked but the average skill ceiling has jumped up since then.

Bumping an old thread, but does anyone still play this? Picked it up the other day and it seems absolutely solid. I'm not sure if lots of people are smurfing, but the skill level at the start in quick play seems insane. Anyone have any good tips/resources to learn what heroes work on different maps/game modes as right now I don't have a scooby.

People still play but the dropoff on the past 2 years has been significant. Can't imagine starting now. Peak Overwatch was right before launch in the open beta when no-one knew what to do

I still play. Am mostly a mid/high diamond player but managed to get to masters a couple of seasons ago before starting a new job so my playtime has plummeted.

Probably my favourite game of all time, nothing has captured me quite like it but a few changes to the game in the last 6 months or so have made it slightly less enjoyable for me and, as mentioned in previous posts, the player base has dropped off quite significantly recently. I used to have a group of about 8 or 9 friends who all played and we'd usually struggle to all play together as we had so many but now I'm lucky if there's 1 or 2 online.

What I would say is, at least on PC, I have found Overwatch's infamous toxicity problem has been much improved recently. I don't know if that's because all the arseholes that used to play the game have stopped playing or the endorsement system they introduced actually works but it's far better now. Most of my frustrations with the game are now pretty much all gameplay related when before it was mostly the toxic community that would ruin an evening's play.

If you're just starting out and want to git gud, I'd recommend having a good bash at the main classes of hero (dps, tank, healer) and then, once you've found one that seems to suit you, specialise in it. I used to try and be able to play all the heroes and it's just not really do-able if you want to become good at any of them. I specialised in support and had far better results in terms of climbing up the ranked system. Once you've done that you can start adding other heroes to your pool, my main heroes in order are now Ana, Zenyatta, Genji, Widowmaker, McCree and I wouldn't recommend trying to learn too many more than that if you want to get good at the game.
