They'd only scored 3 in the previous 10, so were unlikely to get another 2. Lazio went up a gear towards the end and put the game to bed.

Napoli looked a little lacklustre earlier, but still won 3-1 to go back clear at the top. They could do with a bit more squad depth if they want to avoid falling short for the title again this year. They've got decent cover in midfield, but the front 3 start every game and Chiriches has his dodgy moments.

Napoli are in a spot of bother if Mertens gets injured.  The only other fit striker they have is a 19 year old who has yet to play for them. Milik has a long term injury yet again and could be getting punted on loan to Chievo once he's fit. De Laurentiis has said that he's spoken to Chievo about that possibility. Don't know if that would be in return for Inglese being recalled from Chievo.

arsebiscuits - inter took 36 minutes longer to score than i thought they would; mind - an almost competent performance up to that point an' all....

inter reduced to hopeful long balls out of defence now - pretty sure Hellas have them where they want them...:P

Bit if a strange situation there. Verona were awarded a delayed penalty by the VAR, they then bring on a striker who takes and scores the penalty. Surely a rule needs to be made to stop teams from doing that. Should be a player who was on the field at the time of the offence who has to take it.

ho hum - decent performance, plenty of bottle for once - i'd like to think there's enough there to show that some points are going to be there for the taking against the (other) lesser teams in Serie A, and the rest of November's fixtures (and Genoa at home on 04/12) will show if there's a realisitic chance of staying up or not; bring it on - per sempre gialloblù !

Napoli dropping points again. Even Milan stuck 4 past Chievo FFS. Getting very tight at the top though:

I expect Lazio to win their game in hand against Udinese that was called off today, but Roma have a tougher game away at Samp.

well - there's a surprise - the defence that conceded forty goals in finishing second in Serie B isn't even close to being able to give the appearance of being vaguely competent at the higher level; yet another individual mistake throws away a point at Cagliari, another battling performance undermined by failings at the back, another defeat.

slightly cheered buy the fact that Bologna managed to lose at home to Crotone, conceding three, yesterday and therefore must be borderline shambolic so that's another game where grabbing a point may become feasible, but the Sassuolo and Genoa games are becoming more and more like must-win matches all the time...

reult notwithstanding, I'm also thinking that a trip to Sardinia was a marginally more attractive proposition than going to Gravesend - piss poor call on my part...

seriously thinking about a jaunt to Tuscany next year - flights in to Pisa are dirt cheap at the moment, spot of rural splendour and a decent amount of football to choose from - Pisa, Lucchese, Pistoiese, Siena, Livorno, Empoli, Prato, Fiorentina, Arrezo...

been to Piedmont and the Veneto for the last couple of years, it's the region with the third most DOC wines (after those two) in Italy - so that bodes fairly well too - chianti, sangiovese, pappardelle and wild game....

anyone taken in games at any of those grounds - Artemio Franchi is the obvious one to aim for, but any others not to miss - ones to avoid ???

I wish he'd chucked it a couple of years ago rather than topping up his pension in a no mark league.

Why wouldn’t he take the opportunity to go to America. He got to move his family to one the best cities on the planet while continuing to do the job he loves, while no doubt earning a ridiculous amount of money in the process.

Anyway, it’s safe to say football just got a bit uglier with the departure of this beautiful man.
