Officer Barbrady
1 hour ago, Monkey Tennis said: The mitigating factor is obviously the fact that the bullying victim was in that case, Chick Young. However, I don't like that sort of stuff, as a rule. There's a horrible clip of Jock Wallace shouting aggressively at some young lad trying to grab him for a TV interview at the end of a Cup final. It's a case of someone behaving like a nasty sod because he can. Few things are less impressive than that kind of abuse of rank and power. Whether or not it's right, i'm sure in every business there are situations which need such reactions for things to come to a head....three months ago, i sat in on a meeting in which my employers, who had purchased a flagging rival, discovered the extent of the reason behind their demise, and the cost of retaining the staff who helped create it....by the end of the meet, in which we heard plenty of profanity, sexism, casual racism and to-the-point home truths, they had saved themselves the best part of a quarter of a million a year in wages. I've still got mine, doing a job i'm 'fuckin shit hot at' in the CEO's words, so i couldn't really care less. Maybe Smith was trying to point out that Young is a shit reporter, and keeping a decent one out of a job. He's also entitled to dislike him. Maybe Maltese telly need to sharpen up their act too!! killiefan27
There's a difference between thinking someone is shit at their job and humiliating them in a situation where you know they can't respond. If you're a journalist (or even Chick Young) and interviewing someone, if they start being a c*nt you can't exactly say "listen, I'm just trying to ask a question, stop being a c*nt". Leave aside the Malta clip, Strachan (throughout his career) has acted the big man with the media, knowing they can't respond. What do you suppose would happen if someone asked a question at a Scotland press conference, Strachan said "that's a stupid question" and the journalist replied "aye, well you're a shite manager". The journalist would be banned and, in all likelihood, fired. That's why these guys do it, it's because they know they have the power.

I think some journos are scared to give it to Strachan because they know he is quick witted, has a sharp tongue and wouldn't hold back.

Officer Barbrady
Watching Scotland's Game on BBC, Souness said that the players and media drank together, were close, and hence how they trusted one another to give and get stories as they broke.....with the advent of social mediaas it is, i see no reason why journos have to be worried about one manager's answers, when they ought to be trying to.out-scoop the wee fuds online who actually cause most of the shite. This is another thing which has broken down the relations between fan and player/club. For the very, very worst.

Monkey Tennis
Fascinated to hear Strachan say that he never sets himself goals or targets in case he's disappointed. He was asked about it in the context of whether he'd provided his players with a points target for these two games. He said he preferred to just turn up and see what happens. An odd strategy I'd have thought for someone in a high profile managerial position, in an industry dependent on short term, extremely measurable results. RadgerTheBadger
His latest interview where he refused to answer questions from a fans poll or something similar is nothing short of a disgrace. He's a complete bell endWhile teams with arguably lesser resources like Albania, Northern Ireland and Romania and the like we're competing in France this obnoxious little künt was in his house getting paid handsomely for failing
Officer Barbrady
But but but.....he's the best we have. Limited players. Hard group. Only a defeat in Georgia cost us. Etcetera. I'm a little astounded that journalists, well-paid 'fans with typewriters', resorted to using the questions as prompts from the public. The questions really ought to be at the forefront of any self-respecting journo, instead of acting like they are doing 'the fans' a favour. This is exactly why the team plays under a cloud of zero attention to detail or expectation. It's way beyond Strachan simply being a wee dick, now. We've made a decent start to this one and hopefully we'll continue that tonight. You might think he's a wee dick but he's the manager until this campaign pans out. Get behind the team. Officer Barbrady
Absolutely i am. Over the last fifteen years, we have seen countless managers hounded largely because of their press dealings, especially Vogts and Burley. The press have been double wide in this instance, keeping themselves out of mischief to avoid missing out on the 'big scoops', and Strachan knows fine well that most of those clowns have succesfully deposed many managers with similar records to him.....perhaps that's why he's a bawbag towards them, for being shitebags. However, he has a duty of professionalism to act in the interests of first of all his employers, and secondly an ambassador for the game in the country. Acting this way is hardly an example to the players, who would be well within their rights acting like dicks if it's alright for him. Suggesting we turn up and hope for the best, isn't the actions of a manager taking his job seriously, which is the very least he should be doing. pandarilla
f**k the employers, f**k the pr relations, f**k the media, and the ambassador nonsense.None of that matters. What matters is quite simply how the players perform for him. If you think he treats the players with such disrespect you are unbelievably naive.
