Bishop Briggs Posted June 16, 2016 Share Posted June 16, 2016 MP Jo Cox injured following reports of shooting and stabbing in Birstall, West Yorkshire - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-36550304 ETA - Update "Unconfirmed reports suggest Jo Cox, Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was shot and stabbed. A man was also thought to have been stabbed. It is understood the MP was holding a surgery at Birstall Library before the attack. She was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary. Brings back memories of the horrific mass murder and shooting of Democrat senator Gabrielle Giffords, who was attacked at a constituency meeting/surgery. From the BBC live updates Jo Cox update: Eye witness account Posted at15:35 A local cafe owner Clarke Rothwell saw what happened. He said she thought Jo Cox had been shot and stabbed. He saw a white man of medium height, wearing a baseball cap and grey clothes who was hitting Mrs Cox. He then saw a man trying to restrain the man who was hitting the MP.
