For the benefit of 'Shire fans this premier competition in senior non-league football embraces all LL/EOSL/SOSL clubs, plus Glasgow University. Whitehill Welfare are the defending champions. Tweedmouth Rangers and Lochmaben presumably making their debuts alongside 'Shire.

HibeeJibee
Are these games played midweek or are they weekend games? Weekend games... Dates vary a bit each season, but normally the first couple of rounds are in the autumn, the rest in the spring, with the Final the last game of the season. For example in the season just ended Oct 17th, Nov 14th, Feb 13th, Mar 5th, Apr 2nd, May 22nd (week after promotion playoffs).

HibeeJibee
Lochmaben away please ... Any chance you Rosewell lot will need less than 8 attempts at your first tie this season? Anyway surely everyone wants a trip to Dumfries YMCA... They have everything for you men to enjoy, you can hang out with all the boys. You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal, you can do whatever you feel. Or so I heard.

HibeeJibee
Here is the full draw from LL website. Will be a culture shock for 'Shire to go from SPFL2 surroundings to King Edward VI Park in deepest darkest Lockerbie, but a fine facility there nonetheless. EDIT: Rab was quicker on-the-draw! http://slfl.co.uk/south-challenge-cup-draw-r1-and-r2/ Both the First and Second rounds of the South Challenge Cup 2016-17 were drawn in Edinburgh earlier today. Following discussions, agreement was reached earlier in the spring to revert to an ‘all-in’ draw throughout the competition as was the case in 2007-08 and 2008-09, replacing the most recent format of two zones combining from the Quarter-Finals. Whitehill Welfare begin their defence of the prestigious trophy with a visit to Moffat to face Upper Annandale while East Stirlingshire’s first venture into the competition will begin at Lockerbie against Mid Annandale. Standout ties in the First Round include newly promoted Civil Service Strollers versus East Kilbride, and Preston Athletic playing host to debutant East of Scotland League club Tweedmouth Rangers. First Round ties are to be played on Saturday 17th September and Second Round ties on Saturday 15th October; subject to alteration due to ground clashes or by the mutual agreement of the clubs involved. HibeeJibee
Yes delighted with this as it says on yer tin premier competition in senior non leagues so should NEVER have been regionalised from its beginnings! Easy to say but harder to pay for year-after-year once SFA subsidies ended. Unless a sponsor is in the pipeline I'm genuinely surprised, although pleased, with this return to an all-in draw. It certainly makes things fairer, creates more variety and throws-up more interesting ties early on. Incidentally - any chance you Rosewell lot will take fewer than 8 attempts to complete your first tie this season ?
