Edinburgh City

Tremendous first half today (apart from Walker's decision to pass when through on goal). Did well to cope with Annan's fast start to the second and nick a goal but deary me we made it hard for ourselves in the end.

Best I’ve seen Laird all season, hope big Jesus’ injury isn’t too bad as he was really good today. Blues looks a lovely little player, him Laird and Walker is a really good midfield 3.

Should really be pushing on from here and getting ourselves safe.

Just seen that Liam Henderson has left already to join a team in Australia.

he got offered a full time contract- bit of a no brainer, part time wages at a windy Ainslie Park or full time football in sunny Oz! City couldn't really stand in his way although we'll miss him.

With the fermers coming down from the Peterheid area to Ainslie Park on Saturday I have hatched a cunning plan to unsettle them and gain 3 points for the MIGHTY City. This will greet them at the gate and cause pants wetting terror:

Hearts will play all youth matches at Riccarton from now on with a small stand being constructed to accommodate fans.

Development League Under-20 games are being switched from Stenhousemuir to the club’s Edinburgh training base in a move certain to please supporters.

A small stand is being constructed at Riccarton

Since 2015, Hearts Under-20s have used Stenhousemuir’s Ochilview Park as their home venue but that arrangement has now ended. The construction of a small seating area allows all youth fixtures to take place within the Riccarton training complex – part of the Oriam sports performance centre.

Oriam’s full-size indoor astrodome, which also seats 500 fans, offers a back-up facility in case of inclement weather.

“Once the whole thing is finished, we plan to play all our home youth games at Oriam. We have finished playing at Stenhousemuir unless an emergency arises,” confirmed manager Craig Levein ahead of Wednesday’s Under-20 game against Partick Thistle.

“The Stenhousemuir arrangement was good and worked well for us because we still have one of our youth development centres there. We can still go back there for a one-off game if we need to.

“If we play youth games at our training ground, it’s just easier without needing to travel. Also, you must have a stand in place for it to be classed as a venue for development matches.

“Clubs get compensated by the SFA if you play at a recognised venue, so that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Hearts have earned widespread plaudits recently for promoting youth academy players to their first team. So far, ten teenagers have played for the senior side this season.

Fans eager to watch the next generation of academy graduates before they reach first-team level will now be able to do so much closer to home.

Looking at the plans you really can't see City ever being back at Meadowbank. The bit in the statement about the changing rooms is like its going back to what it was like when Meadowbank Thistle came into the league in 1974, they had loads of complaints about it from other clubs and eventually built the dressing rooms which were later used by City.

Very disappointed but not surprised at the Meadowbank news. Initially I thought the club should try and engage the council and try to get them to amend the decision but Edinburgh City seem so far from the council's mind with this development that I don’t think there’s any point.

I hope the club has some contingencies and let’s push on with those to see if any are practical and if any will support City going where they want to go.

The council seem more interested in the athletics, although I suppose that's what the place was built for originally.  At the same time they must have given up at ever hosting big meetings in the city given the new capacity, its more of an athletics training ground than a stadium.

EC  and football do seem very far from their thoughts in the construction of the new Meadowbank. Hard to say where EC could go your at the only ready made football ground where you can play at the moment although would Spartans really want you there full time?

Would the new rebuilt Edinburgh Accies ground down Stockbridge be an option when the works done there sure someone mentioned it on here in the past?
