ayrmad Posted June 18, 2017 Share Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) A stoppage was correct, Kov was doubled and not defending himself, Kov was beat as soon as he doubled up the 1st time, the punch was low as on his waistband but it was no where near his hawmaws. But he was definitely caught with very low blows and the ref should have given him a breather. kiddy Posted June 18, 2017 Share Posted June 18, 2017 Only seen the clips on SSN, defo looks like 3 low blows before ref steps in.IMO, Ward should have been sent to neutral corner, Kovalev allowed time to straighten up, & the fight allowed to continue. Ref should be pulled up, with a possible point deduction missed.As for rematch, think Kov should take on somebody else before that. Kov was reeling from a cracking shot when his stanes started getting pummeled. Ward had hit him below the belt twice in the earlier rounds, albeit borderlines.Don't know why the ref didn't give Kov a count, as he'd surely have taken a knee if he wasn't against the ropes.That said, as in the last fight, looked like the tide was turning and Kov was starting to look tired. ayrmad Posted June 18, 2017 Share Posted June 18, 2017 The last blow was definitely in the hawmaws, the rest were either on the waistband or inconclusive on the clips I watched, once the ref decides they aren't low blows then I feel he had no choice but to stop the fight, Kov is on the bottom rope with his hands down and head wide open, Ward has stopped and is standing right next to his head looking at the ref.
