Just back from watching it there and I can't add too much from what has been said. It was a great film to watch and the cast were brilliant. Nice to see a pub from my town of Clydebank in it as well!

The Orange Lodge scene was brilliant, I was hoping for a reference to Hibs' Scottish Cup Win but that scene will do nicely instead!

I was hoping for "I've not felt that good since David Gray scored the winner in the cup final" when he was podgering the bit of Bulgarian stuff

It would have been nice if there was some sneaky reference to Hibs and the Scottish cup at some point, didn't even need to be in the dialogue it could have just been a wee snippet on the tv or some banner/flag in the background.

I liked the Choose Life monologue. It expressed more middle aged concerns and was delivered in the restaurant of Harvey Nics. Referenced the old film, and made him look more of a grumpy old man than a young rebel. The withering reaction of the lovely young Bulgarian felt genuine too. Wasn't a problem for me at all.

Yes I don't see the problem with it but most reviews I have read don't like that part. I particularly liked the "tourist of your own youth" comment and the comment about us all living in the past. I can certainly relate to a good bit of that!

I hope you took a breather for a moment, turned to the camera and said "I haven't felt this good since Faissal El Bakhtaoui scored his hattrick against Brechin in March 2016".

Haha! It was actually "Skerla against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final 2004" that was expelled whilst trying to catch a breath [emoji12]

Didn't notice until seeing T2 that I'm the same age as Renton in the original. However, I feel like the Renton of T2. The Choose Life scene resonated with me quite a bit.

Good review from Kermode as always. I know what he means about the age thing but wasn't a problem for me. Great films immerse you in stuff that doesnt really apply to your life.

My favourite film of all time is Once Upon A Time In America. It's actually got a lot of the same themes going on, someone revisiting their youth, regret, facing up to mortality - have loved that film since I was about 17.

Off topic, but my cinema ticket last night was a sneeze short of £12. Don't mind paying a bit more to go to the cinema but nothing has changed from a few years ago when you were paying £7/£8.

The seats are the same, the screen is the same, layout is the same and it's the same experience.

Are there any logical reasons for the price hike?

Did you get your reach around from the usherette, if not you paid your £12 and then stood in the wrong queue!!!

Thats outrageous. And cinemas wonder why audiences are dropping. I was just under £16 for me and the mrs but that was with a slight mycineworld discount. When you throw in some food and drinks at the cinema, it can become a slightly expensive night out

Eleven quid for me last night, which i presume included a booking fee. Either way, a bit eye watering. Made all the worse by some of the utter pondlife who shared the cinema with me. Shrieks of "ooooh hen, we've been there" (it was the fucking grassmarket, who hasn't) and two boys in the front row who'd obviously been scooping all day and thought "f**k it, I'm not missing a scene by going for a pish" and just decided to do it where they sat.
