From the laying of the artificial pitch at Annfield in 1987/8 till our ground share with Stenhousemuir in 1992/3 all the Albion's home cup ties were relocated to a succession of grounds. Approval to lay the artificial pitch had a condition that teams drawn to play at Annfield had the choice to request a change of venue to a grass pitch.

Gretna used Palmerston to play a cup replay against Morton during their top flight season. Had they beaten us, they'd have gotten QoS at home - probably at Palmerston. Luckily, we prevented any such problems by beating them 3-0.

They did, and had they won the game WOULD have been at Palmerston. At the time pretty disappointing that we didn't get to play an "away" game at our home ground against "them". All worked out well though when we beat you 2-0 at Cappielow and went on to the final. :thumsup2

That was the game where some guy in the WDE stripped down to his Y-fronts and was lifted when one of his mates pulled them down. O'Connor and O'Neill got your goals IIRC?

You are half right (well two thirds if I give you credit for the accidental streaker incident). O'Connor got our first with a header just into the second half. The legend that is John Stewart scored the clincher on a break in the last couple of minutes. Think it was his first goal for us though obviously not his most important!

Had there been discussions about how that would have worked, do you know?

Would Gretna fans have been given the home end for example?

Tentatively. Dont remember it all. Think Gretna were to get the whole of tbe East Stand and we would have the rest. Gretna would have staffed the office at least partly and dealt with the gate receipts. I presume for practical reasons we would probably have used the home dressing room but not sure it had got that detailed.
