McGhee at Pittodrie, Rod Stewart's cup draw, Pedro in a bush, this year was ripe for comedy. The only way they could have made that any good was to involve the #metoo thing, but the extent of their political satire is to have Nicola Sturgeon releasing a perfume (for no reason whatsoever) and a lazy joke about Salmond doing a Russian dance. I'll bet that will be too 'football related' for the show. The vast majority of viewers will not get most of these. Long gone are the days of Chick Young and Jim Farry at their secret location down by the clyde. It was funny 20 years ago but the comedy died in it. However, it would be a shame to lose a show about Scottish football/comedy, particularly one with a good history until recent years - it has to be the writers/producers that are the issue here. With all the Rangers stuff that has gone in the last few years alone they should have been able to make some hilarious stuff, plus if they want to continue to go down the current affairs/politics route they have an unbelievable amount of significant stuff (No Vote, Trump, Brexit) to use, yet all they have served up is some cringeworthy nonsense.
