Brandon Park

New Brandon Park

Matt Busby Sports Centre

Rockburn Park

And sharing at Vale of Clyde.

I have a visit to Darlingtons new base in the town at Blackwell Meadows planned for Wednesday 22nd of March when they face Bradford Park Avenue. I have previously seen them play a home match at Feethams, the Reynolds Arena and at Heritage Park, Bishop Auckland during their ground share, so Blackwell Meadows will be the 4th home ground I have seen a Darlo play at.

Also got planned, the latest Scottish ground hop in March which will be Preston Athletic and Hawick Royal Albert in the Lowland league plus Ormiston, Eyemouth and Coldstream in the East of Scotland League, plus got tickets for Slovakia U21's v England U21's in Kielce and Germany U21's v Denmark U21's in Krakow in the Euro U21 championship in June while on a European holiday with the wife. Possibly will also do Oxford United, Walsall, Shrewsbury Town, Coventry City and Yeovil Town this season. That will get me down to about 10 left in the 92 in England depending on who goes down and who comes up.

Brechin City and Ayr United will both hopefully be done in July in the group stages of the league cup which will complete the 4 top leagues in Scotland.

Then we are looking at another European lads trip like the recent Netherlands one for early 2018. Possibilities are Germany, Belgium, Poland, Hungary or back to the Czech Republic. Anywhere we can get 3 games in a long 4 day weekend.

I'm far from a football tourist. I even worked in Barcelona for a month and didn't bother to visit the Nou Camp once.

The Scottish grounds pretty much accurately show Dunfermline the tiers Scotland have been in in my time. Most of the teams Dunfermline meet on a regular basis season on season have been visited.

I'm pretty sure I've missed some, but can't quite work it out.

f**k risking an away win there.

It's an interesting quirk of Asian football, most countries have a club run by the army or police. I've listed Home United and Warriors FC in Singapore, but those are just the commercial monnikers for Police United and Singapore Armed Forces FC.

In Thailand, the navy, air force, and land-based armed forces each have their own club, whilst in South Korea, the army have a club called Sangju Sangmu to which talented players are loaned from their original teams while serving conscription.

To be fair, it was also fairly common in Eastern European football for teams to be linked to the police or army. No different really to the formation of many clubs who started as an attraction for the workforce, aside from the political connections....

I've got 135 listed for grounds but some duplicate as I list by who I was watching at home

59 Junior grounds

48 Scottish league, Highland league, East of Scotland grounds

15 English grounds

13 Grounds I have seen Scotland play at Home & Away

I have Wembley twice as I was there in 1996 & 2016 and they completely different grounds, which calls into question when is it a rebuild and when is it a new stadium, I have Tynecastle only once even though been there when it terracing on 3 sides, and when it all seater, I see Tynecastle as re-build and Wembley as a new stadium.

I have seen a few with multiple homes, Clyde at 3, Peterhead at 2, Petershill at 2, Clydebank at 2,

and at least a dozen grounds that no longer exist, Kilbowie, Maine Rd, Love St, Boghead, Firs Park, Brockville to name a few.

Scotland

All 41 current grounds in the top 4 divisions bar Elgin plus

Demolished grounds

Douglas Park

Kilbowie

Brockville

Muirton Park

Old Bayview

Boghead

Meadowbank (also seen Edinburgh City there)

Old Broomfield

Annfield

Love St

Raydale

Non-league grounds

Princes Royal Park, Banff

Crombie Park, Peterculter (shudder)

Holm Park, Yoker

never made it to Firs Park or Shawfield, might be other now defunct grounds I've forgotten

England

St James' Park

Stadium of Light

Emirates

Craven Cottage

Adams Park, Wycombe

Griffin Park, Brentford

Brunton Park, Carlisle

Croft Park, Blyth

Bootham Crescent, York

Germany- trying not to use sponsor names where possible as these obviously change over time.

Alllianz Arena, Munich

Westfalenstadion, Dortmund

Neckarstadion, Stuttgart

MSV Arena, Duisburg

Uhlenkrug, Essen

ESPRIT Arena, Dusseldorf

Stadion an der Alten Försterei, Berlin

Stadion an der Feuerbachstraße, Dusseldorf

Others- mainly Scotland away trips

S.Dariaus ir S.Girėno, Kaunas, Lithuania

Parc des Princes, Paris, France

Amsterdam Arena, Netherlands

Ullevaal, Oslo, Norway

Cardiff City Stadium, Wales

Stadion Eden, Prague, Czech Rep

Stadion Letna, Prague, Czech Rep

Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland

Rheinpark Stadion, Vaduz, Liechtenstein

Estadio Jose Rico Perez, Alicante, Spain

King Baudoin Stadium, Brussels, Belgium

El Nuevo Gasometro, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Westpac Stadium, Wellington, New Zealand

Stadion Miejski, Krakow, Poland

I think that's 83. Suppose 100 is something to aim for. Best is probably Westfalenstadion, although I found the atmosphere a bit plastic. Worst either Cowdenbeath (no explanation needed) or the one in Lithuania which had fixed i.e. non fold down wooden seats that ripped the backs off your legs any time you stood up.

edit: 86, forgot Love St, Raydale, and York and also reading through it will be 87 as of Sunday in Faro.

Reached 100 when I went to Gateshead vs Leyton Orient at the end of April. Proud.

All in all just about 200 where I've actually seen a game.

Thought I'd update this since it's been 2 1/2 years :o Reached 250 last week on holiday in Orkney.

That is it a few Scottish grounds not on the list which it would have been nice to though.

A few of the visits with Utd were to groundsharing teams.

Hamilton at Partick Thistle

Queens Park at Airdrie - Scottish Cup

Clydebank at Stirling Albion - Scottish Cup.   I am sure that the game was meant to be played at Boghead but it kept getting postponed and the SFA eventually decided to move the tie.
