Would it be fair to say the SNP resurgence from 3-4 years ago was down to the Cameron Tory government and they're stance on austerity?

Corbyn's anti austerity message seemed to cut through in the last election

Not really. Labour vote only rose about 2% I think in the last election. More to do with the SNP voters staying at home

People probably stayed home because the EU just isn't a vote winner, either for the Lib Dems or the SNP. I don't think Labour's stance is going to affect them much either if they have a decent manifesto to sell to the electorate. That's probably why Sturgeon is taking the focus to a large extent away from membership of the EU atm. I think Scotland would respond to Corbyn's Labour if Slab weren't so horrendous so it makes sense for Sturgeon to take the fight to Labour on Corbyn's terms and watch welts like Sarwar try and pretend that the thought of a social democratic Scotland doesn't fill them with revulsion.

Local By Election in my ward. Local Tory councillor forced to stand down because he's facing child pornography charges.

Torys have bombarded our street every day twice a day with leaflets.

And yet none mention Indyref2, or Ruth Davidson.

What ward is this? Has it been widely reported the councillor is facing these charges? ????

So this by-election in Perth is on Friday, the Labour candidate won’t campaign outside of Craigie (Ignoring Oakbank and Letham completely) the conservatives have been door to door everyday with leaflets (Dont seem too keen to discuss the fact the resigned councillor was allegedly under investigation during the council elections) and the SNP doing very little campaigning in my area.

Cannot see past the Torys or Lib Dem’s, which won’t alter the council.

|The SNP have knocked every door in the area more than once, maybe you were out? I can assure you the Tories haven't been door to door every day, we outnumber them on the ground about 4/1.

Also, please don't go to vote on Friday it's on Thursday.

The second preference votes swinging between Lib Dems and Tories mean it is incredibly difficult for Pauline Leitch to win this seat. Success would be the SNP getting the most first preference votes.

Very good chance, had a leaflet or 2 but no door chap whenever I’ve been in.

I genuinely thought it was Friday, so cheers for the heads up.

Scottish Conservatives win Perth City South by 146 Votes.

43% of Eligible voters took part.

No difference to Perth Council. Therefore the threat to local schools will continue.

SNP candidate elected at stage 5.

Fantastic result as the SNP very rarely win single seat STV votes these days.

I don't know much about the ward but for central Scotland and my perception of Larbert from the train I'm going to stick my neck out and say that's shocking for Labour.

Clackmannan North went ahead yesterday in the red weather warning. Apparently there is no legal way to postpone an election for weather.

I would imagine you are looking at about a 20% turnout with at least half that in postal votes.

Mountain to climb for SNP in those circumstances although our get out the vote operation is light years ahead of other parties.

Should get a result soon.
