No Labour.  Is it true that they didn't stand in order to give the Tory a free run?

Whether that's true or not the SNP vote dropping by 19.2% is a separate issue and one that they must address.

Stepping aside to give the tories a free run is still disgusting though,  they should even stand someone just to take votes off them, but labour,  the party of better 100 years of tory rule than one day of independence,  would rather Scotland is governed by tories from London than social Democrats from Edinburgh.

They are selective facts.  Scotland's share of public sector spending is not only about the block grant.  If you are going to make an economic argument, which will be absolutely critical to getting a Yes majority, then being less than honest with the numbers does not help.

If the Brexit result has taught us anything about referenda it's that being less than honest with the numbers does actually help.

Does it?  I am not sure what happened in the emergency budget but I am certainly not £80 per week worse off.

These by-elections get decided by STV not by first past the vote, so there's no obvious reason why doing that would help the Tories.

Actually they don't seem to. The main elections are  multi member constituencies but this seems to be a straight run

The SNP still have 2 out of the 3 councillors for  Banff & District

You missed this part of the linked text:

The election count was conducted in Garioch Sports Centre in Inverurie, on Friday, 4 November and the first preference votes for each of the candidates was as follows:

They should have reported the transfers then

There's something not quite right here

I would guess the demographics of those areas have changed a lot recently.   Lot of English retirees most likely.  also international people who worked in the oil industry left too.

The pesky "English" again? That theme is pretty regular with you.
