The Terrible Journalism & Tom English Thread

And another thing...

The BBC 'Scotland' football site is terrible at showing you which fixtures are actually taking place. Click on Scottish Football...Scores and Fixtures and there is nothing there. No mention of any European ties at all, even when the bigots play. You have to search the competitions to find out if there are any games on. At least the main BBC site gets it right as if you click on Football...Scores and Fixtures you get every senior game being played on that date regardless of country or competition.

On the Home page they only show the Premiership fixtures for the 5 August so you wouldn't know there was actually a national cup competition currently being played.

Again simple little flaws to rectify but it was the same set up was there most of last season too.

Apparently Celtic fans behaving like, well, Celtic fans last night is UEFA's fault.

There was hardly much trouble anyway. Some fannies chucked stuff and some fannies made a banner. Hardly cause for keeping the teams apart.

The layout for their sports pages with fixtures/scores/results/tables always seems to revert to a default setting which rarely shows games happening on any given day. I'm pretty certain it was different before the site got revamped a few years ago, so it's a technical problem rather than anything else.

Not allowing sponsorship on subs bibs seems a bit of a weird UEFA rule given that ads are everywhere else in football.

Probably because there are a few "official" sponsors of the champions league who pay a premium to exclude other sponsors.

I guess, could be an alcohol related thing given that Heineken is a big Champions League sponsor

Scotzine could have shorten that article to;
Doesn't matter what we did, they started it

More negative shite from the BBC...

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40686875?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_sportsound&ns_source=twitter&ns_linkname=scotland

Some absolute jobber who played for Rangers (RIP) nearly 10 years ago says he knows f**k all about Aberdeen but they're shite anyway and will get papped out in the next round.

How about talking up the game for once? FFS.

It'd probably be more interesting to know how they ended up finding this guy, and why they thought his opinion would be in any way relevant. Is there some kind of dating website to match up obscure former Old Firm players with embittered old hacks looking to slag off Scottish football?

That's pretty staggering stuff.

You expect it of red tops, but the BBC should be above it.  Increasingly though, BBC Scotland sinks way beneath it.

Was up all night wondering why no one had asked a random player I can't remember playing in Scottish football what he thinks of Aberdeen despite not having seen them play. Thank you BBC, I can sleep easy tonight.
