The Terrible Journalism & Tom English Thread

Recommended Posts

I didn't see the pictures, but heard bits of the interview on SSB.  He did sound very clipped compared to some of the long, rambling interviews they usually feature despite saying nothing.  Basically, "Rangers need money, celebrating draw was sad".

As braindead as the content of that interview is, it's quite sad seeing someone like that.

Whether he's drunk, hungover or whatever he doesn't look healthy at all and looks very uncomfortable being there.

Yeah, it does sound like some uncomfortable viewing.

Anyone got the link?

Good God, that's desperate.

To be honest though, it's not his fault he's very stupid and he's not the only guy in his fifties on whom the years have performed their terrible dance.

I'm more annoyed by the fact that such features get made.  It's obviously tied up with sponsorship and suchlike, but the idea of journalists having to ask him what he thinks is ludicrous, because he's clearly never had a thought in his life.  He has no knowledge, let alone insight.  He is incapable of the most basic analysis and he's pretty inarticulate.  Now that's ok, because he did have skills and abilities we'd all have killed for.

Nobody should ask him to speak, then broadcast the results though.

I find it fascinating that in the UK they tend to ask former stars to be pundits when a lot of these guys are chowderheads.  Over here in Canada the best Ice Hockey pundits aren`t the former big name stars but the guys that used to be backup goalies and journeyman bench warmers.  They had a lot more time to learn the game properly while sitting on the bench than the guys that were always playing and always having their egos inflated by media telling them how wonderful they were.

Following RB Leipzig's 3-0 defeat today, Bayern are 10 points and 32 goals ahead, and on course for a comfortable 5th league title in a row.

What's the fucking point of German football?

Ronald De Boer picks his dream team out of players he has played with.

The only other Ibrox colleague to make the squad of 18 is Mikel Arteta, with the Spanish pass master winning the Treble alongside de Boer in 2003.

There was no place for the likes of Arthur Numan, Barry Ferguson or Michael Mols in his squad.

The actual team he chose -

Edwin Van der Sar

Michael Reiziger

Jaap Stam

Danny Blind

Frank de Boer

Pep Guardiola

Clarence Seedorf

Phillip Cocu

Jari Litmanen

Luis Figo

Rivaldo

Notable subs: Stefan Klos, Mikel Arteta and Xavi.

Amazed that Barry didn't get in ahead of Xavi, Seedorf or Cocu in all honesty.

Certainly ahead of diddies such as Zander Clark, Graeme Smith, Peter Enckleman and Scottish Cup Winner Alan Mannus. You're spot on there.
