A quick calculation of the odds that the Holyrood voting system suffered an extremely localised and temporary bug vs the odds that the f**k up was a result of Kezia Dugdale's gormless incompetency leads me to the conclusion that the probability that the f**k up was down to Kez being a hapless simpleton is 100%.

The answer is to share the £ initially while working towards our own currency over a period of time agreed on at both sides. That would suit rUK as much as it would suit iScotland. £ would lose considerable value thanks to independence, that approach would give them further time to work on their own issues.

That was plan B last time - sterlingisation - a completely useless plan imho.

It has to be the Euro or an iCurrency.

SLab seem to be furiously pursuing the Greens for having "no mandate" to vote with the SNP on Section 30.

Their manifesto is a little vague. There was talk in the run-up to last year's elections that they preferred a referendum being set in motion after a petition was signed by a million people on the electoral register. That said, the manifesto itself says that any referendum should be brought about by the will of the Scottish people - considering the SNP had a referendum commitment in their own manifesto, and won the election by a country mile, is that not indicative of the will of the people?

What say you, P&B?

The manifesto argument is immediately debunked by pointing out that the Tories had no manifesto commitment for a hard Brexit.

It's not sterlingisation. It's setting up a separate Scottish currency while trying to avoid as much disruption as possible at both sides. It's the sensible approach to take for Scotland and rUK.

In a fair and rational world, maybe. The Bank of England and the Treasury will be on strict instructions to say it's impossible and they won't let it happen. After a Yes vote we can switch it from Plan D back to Plan A for the short to medium term, and Westminster will be happy to go along. We'd have a couple of years after a referendum to sort it out anyway, the thing is to have a clear Plan A that is feasible and doesn't rely on London's cooperation until after the vote. Pegging the bawbag to the pound for a limited period might be an option, and I don't see how rUK could stop it, but it would be hard to defend and retain clarity for voters under the London onslaught. The Euro would scare off too many idiots. Our own currency in the ERM2 would be my choice, but that would be hard to sell too. Slovakia floated their currency months after leaving Czechoslovakia, and it dropped in value sharply against the Czech Republic's Kurona but led in part to a long period of sustained growth, far exceeding their former partners. Eire spent far too long in stagnation pegged to the Pound, it wasn't until they floated and eventually joined the Euro that they flourished. 100 cuntos to the bawbag would my Plan A, with well defined Plans B, C, and D, and with the caveat that the situation could change should the Bank of England prove more cooperative after a Yes vote.

Tories are all over the place on Brexit and Indyref. Shapeshifting toads. Wish journos would challenge the likes of Davidson and Tomkins more on their very recent statements.

You can't argue that black is white and then just change position because your boss down south tells you to. FFS Tomkins used to share a state with Colin Fox of the SSP when he was a pro-independence socialist just a few years ago. Little wonder he can glide from anti to pro Brexit with no effort.

Fiona Hyslop is terrible, discuss.
She just got her arse handed to her by Adam Tomkins on the BBC debate thing, no mean feat for the skinny chap.  He was dreadful of course and the audience quite hostile and yet she seemed completely unprepared and incapable.

This is what I meant in previous posts. Big hitters only, Hyslop is fucking shite.

She's almost Labour standard. SNP have loads of folk who would've wiped the floor with Tomkins - he's just a poor-man's John Major.

The good thing is no one is going to remember tonights debate after tomorrow.
The BBC were able to paint the last indyref as belonging to Alex Salmond. The workload will need to be spread around to stop that happening again.

Social media was actually pretty quiet on the debate tonight. Thought it was a bit early to have this kind of discussion anyway.

I'm personally sick to death of the Question Time type of audience debates and the BBC need to raise their game and come up with a different format.

Hyslop is a decent MSP but I have to agree she is poor in these types of debate.

Aye, Patrick Harvie went to town on them today. Pleasing to see he's got the remaining SLabbers, primarily Hothersall, shitting themselves.

I'm a member of the Greens but even I'm astonished that it's likely they'll overtake Labour within 2-3 years, polling-wise. Scottish politics is definitely in an unprecedented era for rapid change and overall engagement.

Why the f**k are the SNF******P wasting time on a referendum debate when the country's arse is falling out. These p***ks should get on with the job they were elected to do and stop fannying about with their wolfie smith politics.

It might just be me, but carrying out their manifesto promises sounds like literally the exact job they were elected to do.
