If you are driving use the Premier Inn in South Queensferry. 10 minutes drive to the airport and decent price. No good if you’re relying on public transport.
Kejan
Cheers for the suggestions. I'll have a look over the weekend. Granny, it'll be public transport I'll be using.
IainMorton
Whenever there is a new post in this thread and I can see the thread title from the main page, thought this was actually a topic on “how shite is Edinburgh?”
Mr Gandosaur
Went through Incheon airport last week in Seoul. What a fucking nightmare that was. Nice airport but took 2.5 hours to get through check In, security and immigration before a 20 minute trek to my gate.

Either a breeze, or an absolute rammy where you cant even get to the security gates to scan your boarding pass as its just a scrum.

hk blues
My pal was held for 12 hours because he had grown a beard and they wouldn't believe he was who he did he was. Read a news report that 3 Chinese women were held back because they had had cosmetic surgery done and no longer matched their passport photo. I suppose it disproves the theory they all look the same though!
Salvo Montalbano
Thought the whole point of the new biometric passports is that it doesn't matter if you have a beard/cut your hair/have surgery, it measures lots of things like eye separation and width of the mouth etc then lets you through the gate without a human being involved?

Maybe so. I'm not sure how dramatic a change in the face cosmetic surgery makes that might affect the biometrics.
alta-pete
I’m flying out of Edinburgh on the 30th, 3pm-Ish. Anyone know if there’s anywhere airside that’ll be showing the lunchtime game? Can’t remember, but doubt, whether the ‘spoons have Sky. Anyone ken please?
Honest Saints Fan
Went through JFK Terminal 7 last night. What a shithole.
Granny Danger
Went out and back through Edinburgh airport in the last week; no problems other than a slight delay at passport control coming back. I think some folk on here just like to moan. -

Flew in on Friday and spent 15 minutes after getting off the plane stuck in some corridor at the back of the airport because the queue to board another plane cut across that corridor and they couldn't risk get them mixed up. Fucking amateur set up.

Fucking amateur set up. At Southampton they used to bus you literally 50 yards from plane to terminal building because you'd be cutting across passengers boarding another plane. Mental. You could see the door and it would have probably been quicker holding people on the plane for 5 minutes than getting two busses round, waiting for them to fill up then drive round the plane to the door.
JMDP
Flew up and down over Christmas. Landing was a ballache but departing was seamless. Really well organised at security. -
ScottR96
Any recommendations for a cheap overnight stay near the airport? Got an early morning flight and don't fancy a taxi from Cumbernauld.

I stayed in a hostel in the centre of Edinburgh, the airport bus runs 24/7 and is quick early in the morning. http://www.hoppo.com/edinburgh

I got a taxi into town and the driver said he'd have took me straight there from Cumbernauld for £30 all in. Big Fifer
anyone know the best place to hang around Edinburgh airport before picking folk up? £1 for the drop off zone if you stay under 5 minutes but it gets stupid after that.
