Ukraine v Switzerland in 2006 is surely the benchmark for which all tedious games must be measured against. Even the shootout was woeful.

If there was a shootout, there were shots at goal, at least. Bolivia's keeper got bored towards the end and, with no pressure, passed the ball straight to one of Korea's strikers with yards of space. The Korean lad covered his embarrassment by passing it straight back, like he forgot which team he was on. Summed up the whole game.

That was also the match in which Leslie Mottram lost his mind and added fifteen minutes of injury time...to each half.

That's the TV schedule up so that folk know what matches Glenn Hoddle will ruin.

I’d like to hear glenn do the Paralympics. Still think it’s poor that he’s on tv. People have been cast aside and never forgiven for less.

Aye, that was a shocker. The kind of game where you wish that both teams could go out in the shoot-out... And on that occasion, they very nearly did.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic turns down World Cup comeback
The Swedish football federation announced Thursday that star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who quit the national squad in 2016, will not make a comeback for the World Cup in Russia.

The 36-year-old who last played at a World Cup with Sweden in 2006, retired from the Swedish team after the 2016 European Championship.

He said last month he wanted to concentrate on settling into his new life in Major League Soccer before thinking about the World Cup.

Ibrahimovic has 31 winners' medals in spells with Ajax, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

But his 2017 season and ultimately his United career was brought to a premature end by cruciate ligament damage suffered in April.
