Wales the major losers tonight. Looks like they will need to beat Ireland in the last game unless Ukraine v Croatia is a draw. Or Slovakia drop points to Malta.

A win for either Ukraine or Croatia. A win for either Scotland v Slovenia or failing that Slovakia v Malta will mean Wales have to beat Ireland.

In fact a high scoring draw between Croatia and Ukraine and a low scoring or 0-0 draw for Wales could still screw them.

Surely in a scenario like this, all group games should be on the same day kicking off at the same time.

Costa Rica equalise in the 94th minute at home to Honduras and secure their place at the World Cup.

They were going to qualify regardless of this result, really, but that's it mathematically confirmed.

Honduras in big trouble now, with Mexico in the final game, and needing to better Panama's result against Costa Rica, considering the -5 swing in goal difference.

Play-off for the victor, as the US are surely guaranteed third place, realistically only needing a draw in Trinidad for the same reason.

Not a whole lot of variety going.

Likely the 8 qualifiers from North America, Asia and Oceania will be the same as last time (except drab Saudi Arabia in place of drab Honduras).

If Argentina do overhaul Peru it's same from South America, only Ecuador missing.

Probably see Nigeria and Ivory Coast back - but new African faces otherwise, tbf.

EDIT: If Europe finishes as currently, and seeds win playoffs, would also be the same - except Iceland, Poland and Serbia / and no Netherlands or Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The St Johnstone of the international scene. Central American fermer c***s.

We'd qualify for the play off then lose to Indonesia
