McKinlay was far more of a left-back than he ever was a centre-back, which seems to have been a bizarre and failed innovation at Ayr. He probably doesn't have the legs to play anything close to a wing-back though.

It wasn't so much on an innovation but more of the fact he was A.fitter than the other makeshift center halfs and B. over 5'8"

If there was any other option it was normally taken (Craig Beattie for instance) so its hard to see it as a failure when you knew it was going to fail in the first place

And he was pish at left back also, not as pish as at center half.....but pish

He's looked decent enough so far, expect he'll be up for it tomorrow.
