Ah the Foodhallen nice one, I actually ordered from Viet View yesterday.

I don't even recall mentioning the Foodhallen but it would definitely be one of my recommendations.

Aye, I think it was perhaps a different thread and I noted it at the time.

If not you then thanks to whoever mentioned it!

I knew I'd mentioned it somewhere but couldn't see on this thread.

I thought the weed had finally caught up with me😁

Glad you enjoyed it.

Going to Amsterdam first weekend in December, anything off the beaten track worth doing?

I'm looking forward to trying an edible or two as well. Does anyone who's been recommend a good coffee shop?!

Cheers.

Stuff to do away from the centre -

Food: Foodhallen in the West of the city, it's located in the old tram depot and has 20 or so food stalls serving a wide range of cuisines, there are also a couple of bars in there, a cinema and a few shops.

Art: Straat museum set in a warehouse on the NDSM werf, large street art/ graffiti exhibition, take the ferry for NDSM located behind Centraal station ( the ferry is free ) takes about 15 minutes and you get a nice perspective of the City, there are also a few bars and restaurants in the area.

If you know all this already then just ignore, but dear lord please be careful when it comes to edibles! Had a few great Saturdays eating cookies from a coffee shop during lockdown, but then one week drank a bit and didn't properly wait for the first one to kick in (the two things it literally warns on the packet) and it was by far the worst time in my life.

Cheers Stevie & THS.

I'm not an expert in eating edibles, but good shout out about watching the amount. I've once taken too much, and I needed to go for a hour run to ''get back to normal'', wasn't great being so stuck in my own mind. 🫠

One pub recommendation in Amsterdam: go to "In de Wildeman", less than 10 minutes walking from central station, just slightly out of the tourist area and a hell of a lot cheaper than the places inside the tourist area. Cracking wee bar with a wide beer selection and friendly people running it. I don't often go to Amsterdam as usually I head for Rotterdam and surrounding area when I'm in NL as that's where my family is, but when I went to Amsterdam about a year ago with a mate I was recommended that pub and loved it.

Make sure you follow navigation on your phone as otherwise it might be hard to find though!

Spent three days in here waiting for the  passport office in Den Haag to open.

The barman is apparently very rude to tourists and especially Americans who don't know their shit but we got on fine.

The only bar outside Flanders worth making a trip just to go to.
