Unleash The Nade
Yet again on the news this morning, the NHS comes under scrutiny and in my opinion, unfair criticism. Budgets and staff have been cut, so less resources available, yet they're expected to maintain the same levels of service and care. Add to this a large majority of the population who put extra strain on what resources are available ,with self inflicted illnesses due to, poor diet, smoking, excessive drinking, lack of exercise. There also seem to be many people out there who are all to keen to turn up at A&E departments with what can be described at best as minor ailments. I recently spent 4 hours in A&E with my son, who had a suspected broken ankle and was amazed to see others turn up with the likes of, a staved finger, a split nail, a sore spot on their neck and a sore head!. It's time the general public started taking greater responsibility for their own health and well being, stop running to the doctor or hospital for such trivial matters and then maybe the NHS wouldn't be under so much pressure. Unleash The Nade
Don't blame me I voted yes... Regardless of how you voted, the main problem as I see it, is the ever increasing reliance of a general public, who on the whole, couldn't give a flying f**k about their health
Jacksgranda
I can't complain about the NHS - I had a chest X-ray, 2 scans and and a consultation with a specialist the space of 8 weeks, after a yearly review gave the doctor some concern. One conversation I overheard was a guy who had been involved in a very minor car "bump" while driving to Uni at 8.30 that morning. He'd exchanged details with the driver who was at fault, then went and sat 2 exams that day. His mates had told him he should go to A&E complaining of whiplash injuries, to see if he could claim compensation through injury and that he'd spent all day at home in pain after the accident. He admitted himself into A&E 15 hours after the event

Re the NHS crisis surely it's always had numpties turning up for owt n nowt but it's the cutbacks that are exposing it. I voted YES, so blame the Westminster wallahs. Bigmouth Strikes Again
If you turn up at A&E with a sore head or a staved finger, then security should be allowed to boot the shite out of you, then, you would have a genuine reason for being there. Gaz
No one mention immigration, that's definitely not a factorImmigration brings a net economic benefit to the country. If the powers-that-be choose not to spend that benefit improving the country's infrastructure, then it's not the fault of immigrants.

I've been at A&E with a sore head. I was sent there by the doctor for a CT scan and a lumbar puncture to rule out a bleed. Sometimes they do need to be investigated. Staved finger, I'll grant you. Bobby Skidmarks
I had to take my cousin up to A&E yesterday after she had been to her GP about heart palpitations. I think that scared the shite out of her more than anything and the A&E doctor was a bit pissed off at the GP as they were exceptionally busy. It's understandable though as it's quite a serious issue but I don't think she appreciated being made to feel like she was wasting his time as she was told to go straight there. I did see a guy get lifted in the waiting room when I arrived though.
