th1stleandr0se
I'm used to hearing that someone coming for dinner is a vegetarian but usually it's qualified with "but they eat chicken" or "but they eat fish" so that some sort of decent option can be chosen. This time there's no but - this one is vegan. "We could do a quorn thing". No we couldn't. Am I really expected to downgrade the meal just because of one person's fads? Am I supposed to knock up a separate meal for this other person? How many on here have had the same dilemma and what did you do? Did you give in or did you take a hard line. Also, there will be vegetarians on here (although I'm sure vegans will be much rarer) whose opinions would be interesting. Would you expect a host to be gracious enough to change the meal plan to accommodate you?
ICTChris
Go to a health food shop and get them some vegan ready meal so you can all have a steak. My cousin in vegan, we had vegan haggis at her wedding.

parsforlife
Tell them since they don't approve of using animals for food and you couldn't find anything that hadn't involved harming animals at some point so are unable to produce them a separate meal. Romeo
Vegans are nothing but attention seekers. Cook as much meat as possible (rare) and stare at then while eating. Spend the evening trying to sneak bit of meat into the food they are eating without telling them.
vikingTON
Vegetable curry with chickpeas and a selection of other veg/potatoes, with coconut milk used to add creaminess. Easily as good as a meat-based curry, vegetables tend to absorb more curry flavours while cooking IMO.
Jim McLean's Ghost
Try to be as obnoxious as possible, do something with cheese. Or be sneaky with Worcestershire sauce, Caesar dressing and non vegan beers and wines.
