Hedgecutter
Very clearly terrorists hijacking the plane and flying it into a storm. No need to faff around with explosives and risk getting caught at the airport. So simple really.

flyingscot
Sounds similar to the air France plane that crashed in the way from Brazil. I think they tried to change course, stalled the plane and didn't notice.

FlyerTon
Sounds similar to the air France plane that crashed in the way from Brazil. I think they tried to change course, stalled the plane and didn't notice. That was iced over speed sensors. I think they mentioned the lack of flying a plane in manual mode at high altitude was a factor as well. The pilots could have saved the plane in that it wasn't doomed as such. Once the Autopilot disconnected (because of the faulty speed indicator probe) one of the pilots started pulling back on the sidestick, climbing, which stalled it.
