SNP had little representation in Westminster in those years so it wouldn't be a surprise to see fewer appearances at QT. Exactly why I mentioned it, I would guess that they were probably over-represented back then. I am not really sure that they need an excuse but there are two things that appears to have happened with QT recently - it has become much less relevant to everyday people and there appears to be less politicians on in general. For your quote to have any meaning you would also need to know how many times the SNP were asked to provide a guest and turned it down. I can't be arsed working this out for every year quoted and haven't bothered checking the figures properly, so like Strichener I've looked for names I recognise., So, in conducting the same exercise with the same reference terms that I believe Strichener used, I get the following results for Labour & Conservatives in 2010 2010 - 40 Episodes / Labour 47 appearances (118%) - some weeks they had more than 1 representative I think you get the picture, they were over-represented compared to both election share (29.0%) and by number of seats (39.7%). 2010 - 40 episodes / Conservative 38 appearances (95%) I think you get the picture, they were over-represented compared to both election share (36.1%) and by number of seats (47.1%).
