Doing the rounds on Facebook just now.

I don't know who to pity most here, the guy pretending to be the Marine, or the guy who confronted him

Reminds me of first year of uni where loads of people claimed to have played rugby at high school. You'd have some skinny cnut claiming that he played hooker etc etc.

Getting a discount for being a squaddie

Do members of the armed forces not get discounts from certain companies in the UK? I know they can get 1/3rd off of Scotrail with a rail card.

Makes sense. We're pretty bad for it but it's next level shit in America.

There are loads of people who pose as ex-Special Forces. I remember reading a South African site devoted to 'outing' people who had fake online bios claiming to have been in the apartheid era paratroopers etc. Seems a strange thing to boast about, I suppose it could open doors for private military work.

I would think the exact opposite, quite frankly.

The Americans and their pathetic jingoism and subsequent fawning over their armed forces is an embarrassment.

Confusing is and are is a bigger embarrassment.

Nah there is very good money in it. There was a company that specialised in it although RSA has made being a mercenary illegal.

No, I meant somebody masquerading as ex service when he wasn't would get found out pretty quickly when applyng for "private military work", not that such work isn't available or doesn't pay well.
