While off on a little jaunt of different game sources to see what else I could pick up for free, I spotted that on GOG they are offering the classic graphic adventures of Beneath a Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress and Flight of the Amazon Queen.

For those who don't know, these are classic point and click adventures from the days of the Amiga. The storylines and puzzles are still as good today as they were then, the graphics definitely from the early 90s but are functional. It's a free game so what are complaining about right.

Previously I played these via ScummVM but the links are for DRM free stand alone executables. The site claims it'll work for all Windows (inc 10) plus Mac and Linux.

There doesn't seem to be a time limit for these.

Flight of the Amazon Queen - https://www.gog.com/game/flight_of_the_amazon_queen

Lure of the Temptress - https://www.gog.com/game/lure_of_the_temptress

Edit: While I was on GOG I spotted they are offering the original Shadow Warrior for free too..

And one more, although this has probably been covered already but I did a quick search and didn't see it mentioned.

Life is Strange (Episode 1) is free on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/319630/Life_is_Strange__Episode_1/

I honestly can't tell you a thing about this, it's possibly one of the last games I'd play. My empathy towards American teenage angst is a shallow and dry well, however it's been received well by... *shrug* ...millennials?

Anyway, the gig is obviously to pull you in so you buy the rest of the episodes (there's 5 in total), but maybe it'll save you sitting around on a dull Sunday afternoon.

Another Humble Bundle limited time giveaway. Offer ends 18:00, Aug 18th - that's just over 1 day 7 hours from now.

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/orwell

It's certainly worth it for free.

Edit: It's not DRM free and has to be redeemed via Steam. Not a big deal but I know some who prefer to avoid Steam.

Quite enjoyed the first day, interesting little game. The second season is out now, which I assume is why they're giving away the first one

Steam are offering a "Starter Edition" of For Honor for free.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/304390/FOR_HONOR/

Ubisoft were originally charging £15 for the Starter Edition when they first brought it out, now it's free. I'm guessing the take up was so poor they had to drop the price - although the deal is being presented as a "limited time offer" but there isn't an official end date so make of that what you will.

Humble Bundle are offering a copy of "Warhammer 40k: Space Marine" for free so long as you sign up to their newsletter.

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/warhammer-40000-space-marine

The offer will end at 18:00 on 1st of Sept, that's (as I write this) tomorrow at 6 o'clock.

For context, Steam are charging £20 for this just now. Have the youtuber SplatterCat playing it, and if you like his shtick check out his other YT vids.

Got to say I never played much SpaceMarine when it came out, but for a game that is now 7 years old it holds up surprisingly well. I can't remember how it ran on older PCs but with the graphics set up to high this thing looks pretty decent (considering it's age). The game itself is a standard linear FPS in the classic mould; the I'm an open world so long as you want to go on the path the game wants you to, but the gunplay and the combination between melee and firearms works pretty well.

You will not find any surprises in this, other than just how well it plays. The AI won't challenge you other than in the numbers it throws at you, but for free this is an excellent little romp and one that you might find you'll come back to. There is a multiplayer that I haven't checked out but 7 years is a bit long to hope that the community is still active.

All in all, for free this is well worth getting.

Got some spare (Steam) keys from my Humble Monthly if anyone wants them.

Forged Battalion - https://store.steampowered.com/app/686260/Forged_Battalion
C&C with new graphics, rated 7/10 on Steam, they are selling it for £15.

Spoiler

Pathalogic Classic HD - https://store.steampowered.com/app/384110/Pathologic_Classic_HD
Remastered crazy Russian adventure thingy, rated 9/10 on Steam, they are selling it for £10

Spoiler

Tales of Berseria - https://store.steampowered.com/app/429660/Tales_of_Berseria
JRPG nonsense that is both expensive and fucking loved by people - not me though. rated 9/10 on Steam, they are selling it for £40. (yes! forty quid for this nonsense).

Spoiler

Got to say, while I would play the other two (I just have too many similar games in my library these days) the last one literally ticks every box in the "I fucking hate this shit" list. Not that I wish to put people off. After all, Steam users fucking love it.

So... how do I do this? Just paste them into the thread or get people to PM me? I'm guessing PM, that way you'll know if you got the key rather than copying it from here only to find out it's taken. Can you take one or all games? Would it be fair to say only one game per person? I'll be honest I just don't know.

* I will update this post if/when a key is taken *

Mr X jnr might be interested in the JRPG. I'll pm you later if he is

You still interested in this?

Seems nobody is keen on any of the games. Which I'm a little surprised at as I thought I'd get "rid of them" within the hour of posting my initial offer.

I couldn't get rid of The Witcher 2 a few years back, so don't take it personally  :P

I'd imagine people who play PC games are a very small subset of the gamers on here, and we're not all interested in the same things. None of your games were my cup of tea, but thanks for offering them. Maybe I'll go through my pile of unused keys at some point and try again.

No, well I'm happy to dump Tales of Beresia from my HB monthly but not Sniper Elite 4. So perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that nobody else is interested in it. I don't take it personally, although I'm sure you only meant that as a joke! ;)

First time offering keys so I didn't know what to expect. Now I do, I'll happily leave them up for a month or so. If they aren't taken then I might offer them elsewhere.

Thing is, I'd much rather wait and pass it onto someone who will genuinely play them than someone who just likes to collect games, and will give it no more than a cursory glance and move on. That said, I'm not asking people to play the game should they wish the key, that really is up to them.

Aye, that's why I didn't ask for any of them - I've already got hundreds of games that I'll probably never play. Better off with someone who actually wants them.

I'll be honest, I'm surprised someone didn't ask for the Beresia one simply to sell it on. Steam are charging £40 for that nonsense!
