They had 200 kilos of cocaine on the plane and 5 passengers. If five Dominican guys get caught with that in Toronto do you think the Canadian press and government are going to be fine with them being sent back to DR to await trial? It's a huge double standard.

The story is bizarre because the sub headline says bag of cocaine which would make most readers think it's only a few grams and the real value is buried half down the story and mentioned casually.

The press should be asking why the Canadian government are giving so much support to a dodgy airline with one plane and a handful of passengers that is an obvious drug dealing front.

But they weren't "caught", they reported the bags to the relevant authorities.

By the looks of the Guardian story maintenance engineer found it and he wasn't in on it. After that they can't exactly take off because he'll grass them in back in Canada. Given that he has cost someone $200 million the outlook for him isn't looking great in or out of prison.

But we also don't know if they reported it shortly before they would have been caught anyway.

Or maybe they would never have been caught. Or maybe they were waiting for Mr Big to shoot the plane up. Who knows?

Off topic, but imagine your surname was Big.  That would be a bit of an issue as you go through life.
