Diamond Oracle
Fair play to the boy. Must have taken a hell of a lot of balls to come out and speak about that.
DA Baracus
Good on him for opening up about his problems. Hopefully it will raise more awareness. He won't be the only one with mental health issues in Scottish football so hopefully this will encourage others to seek the help they need. the gub
I really hope the future is bright for the lad, he's been through a lot in his short life. I'm sure, there will be many people reading his story, that can relate to it.
Tulloch Gorum
He's obviously been through a lot, and hopefully he's turned a corner with being able to open up about it. Kudos to him - it takes a lot to do that.
BB_Bino
Good on the lad for coming out and admitting he's got issues. I work with loads of people with mental health issues and see first hand the fight that they go through every day. You can't condone some of the things Cox has done on the park, however it doesn't make him a bad person off it. Great to hear he now has a good support network off the field and having knowing him personally, Jim McInally is the ideal manager to have in a time of trouble and it's no surprise to read that he's taking him under his wing in such a way. Cox will never beat the illness however I hope he can control it enough to live a successful and peaceful life.
Blue-Toon
From the PFC website: It was reported in this morning's Daily Record that an arrest warrant has been issued for Peterhead FC player David Cox. Peterhead FC can confirm that David has spoken with a lawyer and the warrant will not be followed up.David was due to attend court in Glasgow yesterday morning but - as many of you will be aware - has spent this week coaching young players in Peterhead.Manager Jim McInally said: "We were understandably shocked to hear the police were looking to arrest David. As soon as we saw it in the paper, David spoke with his lawyer and sorted everything out."It was a simple misunderstanding and although we do not want to make light of the situation, Coxy is not a 'fugitive from the law' as the paper said. He has spent the week doing great work in the community here in the Blue Toon."Peterhead FC has given David its full support
SheldonCooper
Fair play to the lad in outing his problems in the media. Hopefully this will enable other players suffering from mental illness' to seek help and admit their problem. I'm sure he will get the support at Peterhead and from fans across the land. parsforlife
Indeed it has, just in the last week ex Stirling and current QoS striker Iain Russell has come out to say he also suffers from depression. Russell was open about his illness ages ago, pretty sure he came out one pre-season about it , 2013 i think.
