Casual Bystander
Ok, let's put aside that all party political broadcasts are fluff pieces but just compare and contract the tones of both campaign ads. Even the most charitable of No voters have to admit the tone of the No camp's advert was negative. It was all about how we can't, how it will be doom and gloom, how there are no benefits and in general it was an attempt to shut people out of the process by asking us to relate to someone who seemed cut off, uninformed and almost angry about the referendum. It was the epitome of Project Fear. With the Yes advert, the tone is completely different. The No voters might say that it's all pipe dream, head in the cloud romanticism but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a positive message, not one of hate and despair. The No camp could have done a similar advert about bestowing the virtues of staying in the union, instead they decided to take the negative route about how your life will be fucked. The Yes campaign is pushing the positives of what can come out of this, the difference is night and day, and while there will be some that wish to nit pick or dismiss but there is absolutely no way they can deny the No are peddling fear and worry while the Yes is pushing opportunity and chance.
