The thistle won the local derby by 2 goals to nil in a match played in the wind and rain which made it difficult for both teams.

The first half had no real efforts of any merit until the 25min when a hopeful ball was played through the middle of the Albert defence when James Nelson went to clear it but slipped allowing Ross McGechie to score by lobbing the advancing keeper.

That was it for the first half.

The Albert started the second half well without putting the thistle goal under any pressure.

With 10min of the second half the thistle should have killed the game off but missed a good chance from 6yds .

The thistle took charge of the game and 25min into the second half they scored their second when from a cross from the right hand side the Albert keeper needlessly palmed the ball into the path of the Larkhall player who scored from 8 yds.

The Albert forced the Thistle keeper into a couple of saves in last 10mins but the game was lost by that time.

The Thistle were the hungrier team and deserved their win,

But there was not that much between the two teams and the Albert will be stronger with the return of their injured players.
