I'd agree that he is no mug and if he turned down Sunderland because it's a basket case then he would surely turn down Rangers. But the pull of a club he previously played with and the lure of being the man to turn them round may be too strong (if he is offered it, of course)

I think Derek was Bristol city boss when sevco were spawned, heplayedcfor Rangers not the pretendgers

Hasn't made it onto BBC's Scottish Football front page. I imagine they're trawling through the fine detail looking for something to negative spin or else writing a treatise on how the new stadium won't happen or will plunge the club into massive long term debt, possibly trying for a new way to link McInnes to Le Cirque de Clown

Great financial results for Aberdeen.

I remember the time of Stewart Milne getting hounded out of Pittodrie, so much that he had to get a security escort to his car. How right he was though, if only more chairmen had his self control back in the late 90's early 00's.

I think Alex Smith could argue about the best since Fergie.
He signed some cracking players and had us playing some really good fitba.
That Hateley assault and the start to the next season shouldn't be the way he's judged.
Willie didn't too bad either

I don't agree with Smith/Scott being best since Fergie due to what he inherited with Willie Miller, Alex McLeish, Jazzer Bett and likes of Jess/Robertson/Booth coming through.  McInnes took our club from 8th/9th to finishing best of the rest.

Willie Miller was a disaster for the club as again he did inherited a good team from Smith/Scott but each season the club got less and less points which he replace the good players with players that wasn't near the level. We should have been no-where near relegation in 95 with that team but he continued to persist with the 3-5-2 which didn't work with the players he had. Best player we have ever had but sadly won't be remembered for Manager or Director.

I actually worried about the financial figures as although we have made about 1.4 million over the last 3 seasons the figures include Jonny Hayes transfer to actually make profit for last season (that is with finishing 2nd in each competition). The good thing is Dave Cormack is putting money into the budget this season which is why we have signed players on longer deals including the management team so if we are short this season they hopefully can use what is left to break even.

Can somebody explain to me how we are sitting 2nd in the table?

Don't worry, we won't be there for much longer.

And before anyone says "it's just one result, don't over-react",   we've been marginally better than shite most of the season, won a couple of games that we didn't deserve to, and been soundly thrashed ( even if the scorelines haven't necessarily reflected it)  a few times.

My first and so far only European away trip.

Was a good trip but the trouble left a bad taste. Went on three that season and would rank it 3rd. Dnipro 1st, Munich 2nd.

We found a way to win when not playing well. This is not happening now. Simple as that. We have not played well this season and the new signings leave a lot to be desired.

That game was the worst trip away for me in the european adventure

Top 5 for me

1 - Dnipro
2 - Siroki Brijeg
3 - Shkëndija (Skopje)
4 - HNK Rijeka
5 - Real Sociedad (San Sebastian)

Special mention for Kairat Almaty (nearly in top 5). So many amazing trips that i've not mentioned either.

Certainly a strong (conclusive) case to be made for the trips with much smaller numbers being so much better.

Agreed, we've not looked great. Lucky to get a point against Hearts, lucky to get 3 against Dundee. We have had a couple of good performances, and a couple of professional performances, but a lot of poor ones. Motherwell, Hibs and the **** will all fancy their chances to finish above us this season.

If McInnes does a U-Turn as is starting to look possible and does go to Govan what will the backlash from Dons fans be like towards him and Milne after their recent statements ?

Milne gets a fairly easy ride and will continue to do so IMO. Much as he’s sort of disliked, most fans are aware he has kept the club safe from the banks for years. He might get some stick online but that’ll be it.

McInnes will be instantly elevated to the level of Hateley, Souness and our own David Robertson. The sloping forehead dimwits that infest all supports will make it very uncomfortable for him to ever Walk the Mat again. There’ll be the usual pantomime booing whenever he returns to Pittodrie but I doubt he’ll worry himself about that.

The smaller trips with less fans are always the best. Skopje was really difficult to get to along with cost but when you got there it was about 60p a drink, Ibis hotel was £10 a night with a walk in! - what a trip that was! :)

Interesting how fervently pundits are going on about Derek to the scums in the days before a double header

Aye, I was surprised to hear this week that we've been linked to the bearded wonder.  The media have done well to keep it under wraps until double-header week.
