The Forfar Athletic Close Season Thread 2014

You had a perfectly fine striker in McManus, who had been given his chance at Arbroath was banging them in.

McManus was always a back up to Swankie/Templeman/Hilson, also seemed to be a major sulker when not playing so it suited everyone that he moved on. WIth Ross & Dale going I would imagine we'll bring in another one striker.

Not strictly true. He was there before Hilson returned so was not "always" behind him. I can understand him being frustrated (not sulking as you put it) as more than once he started due to injuries to others or came off the bench and played well or scored only to be dropped immediately due to player x being fit again. Another great player falling victim to the Campbell pecking order selections and not getting a fair crack when it was deserved.

Good news; Malcolm signs a new deal and Danny Denholm returns.

Happy with Malcolm staying but delighted with Denholm coming back; with it unlikely Hilson will return we need some pace and trickery.

The return of Danny The Destroyer Denholm! Delighted

Yeah true. Thought McManus should have got more game time.

Rumours that Gemmell may still sign. They were after him before but was asking for too much. Not sure about Kader. Great in short spells but easily pushed off the ball and lacks confidence.

Disagree, was never at the level of sany or Swankie so moved on, had no issue with this. To call him a "great" player seems a bit over the score. Could've been kept as cover but if he wasn't happy you've got to let him go.

Hopefully we can get another striker to challenge them this season. Dont know if Gemmel is the answer but he's always a threat when playing against us.
