Carl Cort's Hamstring
Always wondered was there a particular reason for the curved stand? You see them at a few clubs (Spurs and Wolves as well) and it always seems a bit strange.

jagfox
Firhill back in late 50s/ early 60s. Used to be a shed in the North end which got damaged by high winds in early 60s. Firhill from late 80s/ early 90s. Both sides of the shed and its fence. More recent picture. Edited January 22, 2014 by jagfox144
sergie's no1 fan
A nice selection of pics of Love Street through the ages on http://www.stmirren.info/id124.html Love Street Some amazing memories in that place. Some awful ones too. My dad took me to Cairters corner when I started going to the home games. I remember the benches were always slippy as fck but had great fun running about them. Then the corner was closed down so we moved to the terracing behind the goals. No matter where you were you got a cracking view. 99/00 season watching us hump everyone was probably my favourite tine as a fan, well until last March . Me and my pal moved over to the Northbank 04//05 just in time for another title season in 05/06 and enjoyed a few seasons there until the ground was sold. Miss the place but the newish place feels like home now. Some cracking memories already and we have won our first major trophy there.
jagfox
Bit off topic. The old Firhill Tavern which used to sit at the junction of Firhill Road and Garscube Road. Picture from corner of the City End. Crowds gathering in 1958. Edited January 22, 2014 by jagfox144

I think I get what you are trying to say here but it does appear to come across as if you have completely forgot about your teams Scottish cup victories entirely. Didn't think a Perth Saint would have to remind you of them the way your mob ram them down our throats! Reid
Some decent pictures from jagfox there. Sadly I'm not old enough to have been in the old Shed as the Jackie Husband was built in the same as I was born so my earliest memories are just the JH and Main Stand with the terracing at the City End and where the north Stand is now. Ideally (for me anyway) we would still have the terracing behind each goals as we were fucked over by the SPL with regards to building the North Stand and we stupidly demolished the terracing the City End. The terracing could have been used for the past 8 seasons and hopefully, with some adaptions, in the top league in the next few years. Here's some more. Jagfox already posted first one but it's my favourite so I'm putting it up again:

Has anyone ever found any photos of the dog track around Firhill or any of the American football games that (I read) were played there. I saw one from the Kelvingrove exhibition a couple of years ago. Numbered days for Firhill, I fear. HibeeJibee
Branching out into other old stadiums, other Scottish League venues in Edinburgh have included... Powderhall (home to both Leith Athletic & St Bernard's at various times but most famous of greyhound and speedway racing and the New Year spring), now housing Marine Gardens (home to Leith Athletic and also Edinburgh City IIRC), now the Lothian Buses depot by Portobello Old & New Meadowbank (home to Leith Athletic and, post-rebuilding, Meadowbank Thistle respectively), now a velodrome and the Commonwealth Stadium respectively Logie Green (home to St Bernard's), now a public park and car parks

Desert Nomad
Really old picture, any Arabs know when? The allotments in the foreground are still in use to this day! Tannadice(right) & Dens(top) "The Shed" under construction After the shed was covered, but before the new grandstand(now the Jerry Kerr Stand) was constructed Clearing snow from the pitch Before the North Enclosure was covered, commonly known as the cliff due to the steep terracing View from the shed 1980`s My old man has a cracker of the teams coming out at the UEFA Cup final in 1987 on his wall, can`t find it online though.
