My guess is that it's something that gives Liz more insight into just who Red is, maybe even how he links to her. I felt a bit let down by what was in the box, I was hoping for it to be something a bit more explosive (in story terms, not incendiary). I suppose it moves Lizzie on, but it didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. And now the boy from M.A.S.H and his gang are involved! Surely Alan Alda isn't so old and doddery that they had to call his character 'Alan' so that he knew who he was?
