topcat(The most tip top)
Has that Chinese space station crashed yet? Yes It broke up on reentry over the South Pacific so the chance of bits hitting anything were even slimmer than expected

Was hoping for it to plummet into a highly populated area of a communist hating state, thus accelerating the start of the inevitable WW3 before Celtic get another treble.

The new thing is they're going to try to catch the stage 2 rocket for the first time, on a ship called "Of course I still love you." Evidence I'm sure that Elon Musk is an Ian M Banks fan, which makes him OK with me. http://www.spacex.com/webcast Ditto for tonight. Coverage starts at around 11.35. Meh. Returned stage 1 successfully but feed cut off after stage 2 launched the telescope. Musk should get braver with his potential f**k ups, like attempted recovery of fairings (nose cone) and stage 2 rocket. welshbairn
Bit meh. Don't fancy paying the cost of a house for a 10 minute fairground ride myself.
Dee Man
Went for an observatory tour tonight and amongst other stuff like viewing the surface of the moon in incredible detail and numerous star clusters, we got a good view of Jupiter and it's moons. Amazing to see. Interesting fact: the red dot storm on the surface of Jupiter is getting smaller and is due to blow out in around 100 years.

Dee Man
Forgot to mention the best part of the night - two old dears were in our group. We were queued up in one of the domes that housed the telescope that was viewing Jupiter, taking turns to get a look while the astronomer spoke about the planet and answered questions. The guy had just explained how it was a gas planet of approximately 90% hydrogen and how you would be fried with radiation if went near it and one old dear piped up with, "Are there any trees or foliage on Jupiter"

Damp seat in mission control suspected.
