Yeah, I've timed my dinner wrong so currently jumping between the kitchen and the living room at the moment, cars look a bit more lively this season.

The new package was designed to reduce downforce and make the cars more difficult to drive

Anyone catch what can only be described as SFA levels of incompetence in the MotoGP today?

Aye. I can only imagine how pissed off Jack Miller is after the utter farce before the race.

Pleased to see Marquez making an absolute c**t of himself and being suitably punished for it.

What happened?

Miller was the only one (I think) that took the chance to start on slicks. Everyone was on the grid, then it became very apart that slick were the correct choice, so they all left the grid and went into the pits to change tyres, which they're not supposed to do since the change of rules to "Flag to Flag". Miller remained on the grid for 35 minutes while the race was delayed, then race control said the tyre changes were legal because of "safety". They then came back to the grid with the race being delayed 15 minutes roughly, and everyone except Miller was made to start from the 6th row back, giving him roughly a 50 yard advantage. Utterly bizarre, and seemingly made up rules.
Now this is where the Marquez stuff starts, after the warm-up lap he somehow managed to stall his bike. So he then put his hand up (at which point he should be escorted from the grip into the pits) then decided to bump start it, so ended up about half-way down the grid towards Miller. He got the bike started then rode back up the straight to his original position and had to make his way back into his grid slot. The race was allowed to start and he was leading . Then he was given a ride-through for the whole business at the start which I thought was pretty lenient. Then on his way back through, nerfed Aleix Espargaro out of the way, luckily avoiding a crash, done the same again to another rider. Then continued to make his way to the front, done the same again to Rossi which forced Rossi onto the grass and he crashed. Marquez was then given a 30 second penalty which put him outside the points He was lucky not to get disqualified IMO.

Moto GP highlights on Ch5 at 7pm tomorrow I believe.

An absolute farce at the start yesterday it has to be said. Resulting in a great race though.

The only reason I can muster was that Race Direction feared a massive pile up at the start on the pit lane exit as the whole grid minus Jack Millar would be bun fighting down pit exit into turn one. So the next best thing was to give Millar a head start and move the pit lane exit a few rows back on the grid so to speak.

Ironically, had Marquez started from pit lane (as he should have after stalling on the grid), he would have ended up in a much better position in the race. He'd have probably won it.

That aside, his riding was, at times, terrible with no regard for his fellow competitors. Rightly punished by Race Direction.

After all that, the race was excellent ending up with  a British winner and a Brit leading the championship for the first time since 1979 :o

Just watched Nascar Xfinity race on Fox. All the usual booth commentators and pit lane reporters were replaced by cup drivers which was quite hilarious at times. They did really well and Kevin Harvick held it all together and would be a natural when he hangs up his helmet. Jeff Gordon has made the transition from car to commentary really well also.

Alonso win's the 6hrs of Spa. Le Mans up next.

I thought I heard something about Montoya doing Le Mans? he could get the triple crown too if so.

I think he is but I don't think he'll be in an LMP1 car so it's unlikely (although not impossible) he'll win. Jenson Button is doing it too and I think he is in an LMP1.

Alonso has a 50/50 shot of winning Le Mans and the WEC title. Toyota are the only works team and the rules are effectively rigged to ensure no one is as fast as them.

Image result for North West 200 gif

Reminder that the North West 200 is on tonight and this weekend.  Live streaming can be found on the BBC website, there's also a link on the NW200 website which will take you to the streaming site (http://www.northwest200.org/nw200-racing-watching-listening/)

Think the first race is due to start at 17:45 but I would suggest tuning in at 17:30ish to see if they are on schedule.

I'm a bit gutted that I couldn't get to the Indy 500 again this year.  Will have to watch the greatest spectacle in racing on television
