BallochSonsFan
Did Hibs hide the extent of his problems before we signed him or is he just unlucky to have picked up an injury with us despite minimal playing time?
albundy
Did Stevie not state that we didn't know about his injury and would have to get that looked at, which sounded like a threat at the time.I would be surprised if there hasn't been fraught discussions with him/his agent if that were the case.

If that's not normal practice on all signings it certainly should be with players with a history of problems. It's still not a guarantee of anything though of course.
pleslie99
Did we not do a medical? Surely an outstanding or niggling injury would be noticed at that? Or is that expecting too much of our club? Surely then if an injury was picked up we could've signed someone else?

You would have thought, wouldn't you. The wording at the time seemed to suggest that the injury was known about but not disclosed.

Maybe it was the same standard of medical that John Wark had when he joined Liverpool rom Ipswich?

O'Kelly Isley III
The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. Did Hibs 'push' the player to Dumbarton ? Did Hibs 'caution' Dumbarton about the player ? Had Hibs released the player ? Did DFC carry out due diligence on his fitness prior to signing ? Did the player conceal his state of fitness prior to signing ? Did the player reveal his state of fitness prior to signing ? Were DFC too keen to make a signing ? I'll surprised if we are not het for some of this, TBH.
George Parr
Whatever the case, we're woefully short on creative midfielders. We need the likes of Walsh and Johnston to step up and produce the goods down the flanks instead. This season is looking like a bit of a slog.
pleslie99
We don't do medicals. What?? Really?? Surely, regardless of how small a club we are, we could do a medical on a player before signing him? Maybe this will teach our club a lesson. Or maybe not
Bring Back Paddy Flannery
Is it standard practice for a club of our size to do medicals? I don't imagine we have a doctor on hand to conduct such tests as and when required and I'm not sure what a physio would be able to identify without the proper equipment tbh.
Young gun
What would it cost for a medical £500 ?

Or maybe not I'm assuming time and cost is the reason why. We're signing basically a new squad every year on 1 year deals, to put each of them through a medical every summer probably isn't worth it for us. Perhaps doing a medical on players with an injury history would be worthwhile but if we're using that logic it's basically the entire squad this season. 5 minutes ago, Young gun said: What would it cost for a medical £500 ? Roughly aye. But again, we've signed what 18 new players this year? That's £9K out the budget, doesn't seem like a lot but to us it very much is. sonsanorak
I suppose we've been lucky this far then. I think we've picked up a number of players with a history of injuries, but this is tge first where the injury's resurfaced.
the snudge
Surely the player must disclose that they have an injury that would hamper them doing the job? Essentially lying on a job application. (if this is indeed the case he was carrying an injury previous to signing)
the snudge
Vale of leven juniors are at home today again Newmains Utd just incase anyone who isn't travelling to Dundee wants a Saturday fitba fix. Both teams are doing their bit through the charity Breathing Space, for suicide prevention and for that reason I'll be heading to Millburn this afternoon.
Jordo1872
As much as losing a late goal is always disappointing I'm happy with a point from today's game at Tannadice. Didn't make it up there but by all accounts we did well enough. I'll let those who were there expand on the performance but there does appear to be a better balance to the team than a few weeks ago, just need to avoid any more injuries and get everyone fit. We now go into a run of three tough but arguably winnable games. Brechin at home really needs to be our first win of the season and if we can get the points hopefully we can build on it with ICT visiting the Rock the following week. These are games we need to be looking to win if we're to pull away from 9/10th. Livi away round off the three. Another one we shouldn't fear if everyone is fit.
Howlin' Wilf
Looks like messages speculating about the club's culpability on signing Danny Handling, beat the pleasure at taking a point at Tannadice about 6-1 -
BTID
How has Sam Wardrop done for the Sons so far - sky sports has him playing centre mid yesterday is that right?

Na he's only played right back so far and has looked fairly solid.
