Liam Dick looks like a really decent bit of business on paper. I believe Stevie was one of a host of managers interested in him before, but with Stranraer due compensation (iirc) nothing ever happened. I think he was pretty close to leaving them for a full-time club this time last year, but that fell through too.

He did a good job of dealing with Froxy in the diddy cup game, is young, has a decent amount of experience and will be determined to take this chance to shine in the Championship. I was expecting an untried loanee to cover for Boomer, so to get a guy with a decent, proven record (albeit in a lower league) is a boost.

I can't claim to have seen much of Liam Dick but it sounds like he could be a solid replacement for McLaughlin.

As S08 said, he certainly stands out as a better option than an untried youngster who takes 5 or 6 games to get up to scratch. He should be ready to hit the ground running.

Right guys, some of you may remember that I did a big statistical review of the year in 2016. You'll all therefore be overjoyed to hear that I've written up another one for 2017. It's quite interesting (in my totally unbiased opinion) and involved me really stretching my (A at) Int.2 in Maths to the very limit. I've been seriously pernickety about checking, and double checking everything, but if you can spot any errors give me a shout!

Happy New Year everyone. May 2018 bring a goalscorer and a slight increase to our PPG average :)

Superb Sonsteam. Very well done.

Happy New Year to all Sons fans.

Stevie obviously has the Stranraer link, but the current tight financial situation at Stair Park has maybe been a factor too. Whatever, we should applaud the signing of a specialist in a vital position - hopefully more to come [emoji120][emoji120][emoji120]

A cracking write-up and a compelling read So08. Well Done.

I believe he's quite highly rated by Stranraer fans and was tipped for a full-time move in the summer so I'm happy with his signing. He'll provide competition for places and as has been said, he's got top team experience which could be invaluable.

On John Sutton, if the rumour that he 'didn't fancy it' with us and would prefer to be getting cameos like the two-minute one he got against Dundee United the other night, then we've dodged a bullet there. We need someone who wants to be with us and give his all. Someone who prefers being benched than getting first team football (anywhere, at almost any level) isn't what we need.

I'm just penning a letter to the Evening Times and the Herald clarifying our position. Plus there's a statement up on the trust site: https://sonstrust.wordpress.com/2017/12/28/the-sonstrust-and-dfc-stadium-proposals/

Trust letter, making it clear that members have the final say, here: http://www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/15799758.An_open_mind_on_ground_move/ (There's also a response to the ET story up as well).

Wouldn't it be just marvellous if a Sons team featuring a Frenchman and a Cypriot were to reach a Final of a Scottish national tournament by defeating an English-based club which plays in the Welsh League, and lying in wait for them was a Belfast outfit ?

Nurse !!! THE SCREENS !!

Well done young man - packed with the relevant facts and figures. Forty six players. Wow! I hope Steve Aitken sees this. I think I’ll post him the link on Twitter if someone hasn’t already done so.

Cheers! Improvement was probably what I was looking for, but hey, it was a long year

Stevie has liked my tweet so hopefully he’s had a look at the page.

Hopefully he won't forget it when he gets his big move to England, and I'll be employed as a 'performance data analyst' or some sort of other made up Premier League job!

The Dumbarton Reporter has a rather excitable headline on its front page this week, and another full page inside on the Young's Farm campaign.

For the avoidance of doubt (and to relieve the confusion of others), this is where the trust stands -- positive, open, questioning, and concerned above all for the security and flourishing of our club.

So be assured: the trust position can only change substantially if our members want it to change, by a democratic decision.

I know it’s been said, that John Sutton had knocked us back, but I’m hearing, that he’s apparently signing for us tomorrow. Don’t know if it’s old news doing the rounds again or not, please don’t shoot the messenger

Unless we sign a replacement for him, I doubt we'd let him go.

I could be wrong though.
