Walking Down The Halbeath Road

Recommended Posts

It's doing my head in a bit that people are complaining about the lack of action. Folk need to understand the player market operates differently now, especially at our level. A lot of the free agents from the top league will be holding out to see if they can get a deal there. Once all the squads are settled with the top sides then those players left out then become available to teams like ourselves, St Mirren, Falkirk etc.

There is also the financial implications. Clubs can save a good bit of money not having to pay some players for a month. At our level 10k-20k is a decent amount of money that we can't sniff at. That is the reality of things.

This is actually a decent point that I hadn't actually considered. That being said, you have to balance that up with the potential damage to your side's preparation. Our poor start last season probably cost us any chance of top four. We looked fairly decent after everyone settled in but had far too much catching up to do in the end.
