It's well worth a watch, as is Blood Simple, these are two of my favourite films.
I'll check them out thanks. Only really made a point of watching lots if films since getting a Firestick a year ago. Up until then I didn't have that much inclination.

All The Money In The World - 3/10. Thought the first hour of this was a real slog. Second hour, things got a bit more interesting, but not by much. I know I'm in the minority, but found it very underwhelming.

Downsizing  - 4/10. Left the cinema feeling very underwhelmed, as if I'd spent 2 hours watching a film where nothing really happened after the main character was shrunk. The more I think about it, the more I realise I didn't enjoy it. Quite uncomfortable at the Vietnamese character, who is stereotyped to the point that it borders on outright racism.

She won the best actress Oscar for Fargo

Not seen it. I'm not the greatest film watcher.

I'd also recommend Mississippi Burning, which she had a supporting role in when she was younger.

Molly’s Game: Jessica’s Splendid Décolletage 7/10

Thought this was really good, strong performances all round, Sorkin script, fascinating décolletage, fascinating story. Thought Costner was absolutely brilliant in his 10-15 minutes on screen, best I’ve ever seen him. Elba was Elba. Chastain’s were glorious. (cinema)

I'm just out of seeing this and can really only echo the positives you've given, but I did have a couple of issues with it:

1) I thought that the pacing was quite choppy. One minute they're 100mph with the high octane card games, then it's dialled right down straight away. Along with the time jumps, I found myself being taken out of it quite a bit and I believe that it would have been better served as a linear narrative. Being interrupted by Molly saying "but more on that later" a few times was irritating.

2) Due to a lack of knowledge of poker, the card games didn't really interest me and I found the characters playing far more interesting, but it thankfully doesn't take up too much of the time. When it does, though, it seems quite confused as one second they expect you to have a prior knowledge of poker then it jumps to explaining it and back and forth.

However, those were fairly minor and it was a good way to kick off my cinema-going year.

Fist Fight (sky movies)

One teacher (Charlie Day) snitches on another teacher (Ice Cube) for going mental in a class.

Few funny moments but overall a pretty shit film. Day continues to be unable to come near his role in 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' and Ice Cube just plays the same character he played in 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street and basically every other film he's been in

The Greatest Showman 9/10

Thoroughly enjoyable musical about PT Barnum, the man responsible for bringing freak shows and big top circus to the masses

Hugh Jackman is exceptional as are most of the cast including Michelle Williams and Zac Efron. A terrific soundtrack to boot

Caught up with a couple of movies that I've had on a list over Christmas

Spotlight (2015) 8/10 - Available on Amazon Prime/Netflix

Based on the true story of the Boston Globes, and more specifically the 'Spotlight's' (roll credits) team, investigation into the child sex scandal within the Catholic Church.   It's a difficult subject handled well, a wonderful and powerful drama with fantastic performances from Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams who all add to a well written script.  The pacing is nigh on perfect and they managed to do it with out over embellishing the story.  Wish I got to this sooner.

The Big Short (2015) 7/10 - Available on Netflixt

Three separate stories which run parallel alongside the U.S. financial f**k up in 2008.  I found myself routing for these guys, these loners and werido's who were laughed up by the arrogant smug bankers, it's only hit me when it's pointed out that by Pitt's character that they were aiming to profit of the misery and ruin of many.  Your left angry and frustrated by the issues raised, but more so, I was blown away by Steve Carell's performance.

The Founder (2016) 8/10 - Available on Prime (I got this on DVD a few months ago, never got around to it)

The story of Ray Kroc, the salesman who took 2 brothers fast food resteraunt....and created MacDonald's.  God damn is Keaton not the man in this, an absolute stellar performance balanced up against Nick Offerman.  It's a carefully scripted and well paced biopic focusing more on the rise of the franchise rather than the personal life of main players.

Biggles: Adventures in Time

A bit of a guilty pleasure this one. A 1980s New York yuppie travels back in time to 1917 and helps Biggles foil a fiendish German plot. Suspension of disbelief is required.

Corny as f**k and downright silly. But I watch it every couple of years.

5/10

What Happened to Monday?

Noomi Rapace plays identical septuplets battling against a brutal government agency who are enforcing a one child policy in this dystopian thriller.

Decent but instantly forgettable.

5/10

Hostiles 7/10

Totally formulaic western, hard b*****d Yankee soldier Christian Bale has to escort his sworn enemy hard but old b*****d Native American chief bloke, but done well all the same so I did enjoy it apart from the bits where I was rolling my eyes especially towards the end. (cinema)

All the Money in the World 7/10

Ridley Scott film about the kidnap of John Paul Getty’s grandson, could have done with lopping  about 30 minutes off to make a tauter film but I guess he was going for getting you to know the characters as much as it being a kidnap drama so fair enough. (cinema)

Persona 7.5/10

Not sure how I’ve never seen this before, so many films and directors inspired by it, Lynch must’ve been a big fan, the knob in the opening sequence cracked me up! (DailyMotion)
