Some new Douglas Laing stuff to get into. Must say I'm looking forward to the Caol Ila, the best peated whisky I've had is a First Editions Caol Ila of the same age.

Pure filth to look at on a sunny morning on the Clyde Riviera.

I've been trying some whiskies that have been lurking at the back of my cupboard for years.

Glemorangie Lasanta, Caol Ila 12 and Ardbeg 10.

The cork snapped when I tried to open the Ardbeg, then when I tried to remove the remaining bit, I just pushed it into the bottle.

PS any of you boys going to the Glasgow Festival at Hampden next month?

My cousin is one of the directors of the festival, she's just posted on Facebook that session 1 is now a complete sell out with only a few tickets left for session 2.

Bought two tickets for the Stirling whisky festival next with a tasting session on top. Been wanting to go for years but have always been working or on holiday.
In other Gannonball whisky news I got a 25 yo ben riach at online auction recently, yet to try it though. Also did a tour at the Edradour distillery in Pitlochry when me and my mate were meant to be climing schiehallion but weather was shite. Would recommend it if you it if you are passing it, a really quaint picturesque distillery that tbey have spent a few quid on of late.

Going to get an Ardbeg for Christmas.

Which one though? I have never tried any.

I’ve a bottle of Ardbeg An Oa which is lovely. Their 10 year old is meant to be a nice drop as well, though I’ve yet to try it.

As far as I know, An Oa and the 10 Y.O are both kind of on a par as far as being Ardbeg’s ‘signature’ or most popular bottles. However, their ‘Uigeadail’ has been getting a lot of good reviews in recent years.

As far as Ardbeg being the best in the world, this might be the opinion of the majority, but personally I don’t think it’s even the best on Islay. Again though, I’ve only tried An Oa and a limited edition one (the name I’ve forgot) they were producing when we did the tour. Still prefer Laphroaig myself.

Go for the 10. You actually can get a sort of gift box of the 10 that comes with wee tasters of the Uigeadail and Corryvreckan which are their 2 NAS but generallyhighly regarded next up bottles in the core range.

But definitely start with the 10. It really is nice and Ardbeg are a good distillery.

Discovered  an amazing liquor store about an hour away from me. Picked up a Laphroaig Triple Wood for $80 and (don't tell the missus) a bottle of Glenlivet 21 for $210. I'm so happy..

Think it's Diageo opening it again. Same with Port Ellen. I'm assuming they'll be replicating the old stills as near to the originals as possible.

Can't imagine that will be easy but they've enough money to throw at it.

I went to the 2nd session. Was a good night, but maybe not one I will repeat in a while...took me till I went out on Sunday night to get rid of the taste of whisky.

Probably the best for me was getting a taste of the Glenflarcas 25. It's basically the 15yr x100 (or plus 10, depending on how you look at it). Will be looking about for a decent price on it.

Aye it was decent. These nights are just a bit busy though so you don't really get much time to talk to the distillery reps about the different expressions.

I've tried all the core Glenfarclas stuff up to and including 25 so I saved myself for new tastes.

The best table I went to was the Compass Box one. They're premium blends and I've heard people raving about them before, also unlike most blenders they're quite up front about what's in most of them. Tried the Spice Tree, Phenomenology and No Name. The latter is mostly well aged Ardbeg and if you like your Islays it's a cracking drop. For only £100 a bottle too.. the phenomenology is £150! Eye watering but I genuinely would consider getting them for special occasions.

Check out this cracker that I found.  From the world renowned Yanabee Al Reef distillery.  It may well kill me, but by god I'm going to try it...

Is it wise to drink it if your still doing your homework?

It’s not only wise, it’s preferable.
