Longest since last meeting between two Scottish clubs

In terms of the Peterhead thing it's not in 'first class competition' obviously, which is typically taken to be the league + Scottish Cup + League Cup + Challenge Cup. That's a fairly troublesome definition though when you're talking about individual clubs and so forth. Other tournaments were treated just as seriously in the past (and there wasn't a League Cup or Challenge Cup).

Personally I'm also a critic of how the wars are treated. SFL continued during WWI - but with a reduced top tier only, and no Scottish Cup - and so appearances and trophies count in records... In WWII more football was played in some respects, there were as many teams active, and equivalent Scottish and League cup competitions - but not under SFL banner, so it's all unofficial.

Berwick who were 9 years and Inverness who were 7 years have also moved right up the list. It's now more than 27 years since we played Celtic. Motherwell are next longest without a meeting at 13 years. Clyde perhaps surprisingly are now 3rd with more than 8 years without a meeting.

Jeez that is a long time.
Thanks goodness we haven`t blown the opportunity to play them more recently.[emoji20]

Beating you!!!
We've not played them since 18/02/1983, one of only 4 teams we've never played this century!!!

After the League Cup group draws Stranraer now have a chance to avenge that Qualifying Cup (South) Final loss to Edinburgh City 71 years ago.  The Blues were also the club who replaced City in the League when City went junior.

As Stranraer can't exactly be called Central Belt, whaur's yer Central Belt bias now ya bitter Hieland mutton molesters! ;)
