Squad lists/confirmed signings

Recommended Posts

A good signing for you. A really class player who gets up the pitch on counterattacks.

Believe he has a good FT job and the main reason he remained PT football to date. FT footie couldn't match his combined earnings.

Anybody know whether he has signed absolutely on FT terms, or is still retaining his FT job in some shared capacity?

According to today's Tele he has signed on a PT basis.

Is Scally only 32? why has he retired so early?

New signing?

Joe Malin is qualified to play for Lithuania through parentage, he's taking the piss with the name. ;)

Is Scally only 32? why has he retired so early?

The ankle break he got at East End in December 2007 has never really recovered. Not that I actually know that he has retired, I just think it's likely from talking to him and awareness of what he's done since. He's certainly not fit enough to play first division now. He didn't start a single game for us last season and hasn't figured on the pitch at all since well before Xmas. He's been running the u19's squad this season as well as helping out with the main team.

Was that the 2-0 game? shame too as he looked a decent player, the guy that came on for him was fucking hopeless, had funny hair aswell.

Actually there's more to it than that - his family shortened their name to Malin when they first moved to the country.

McFarlane? Was a far better player than Scally IMO.

It was Macfarlane, and he is, with all due respect to Scal, a far better player. For a guy who was "fucking hopeless" he spent several seasons in the SPL with Hearts and Aberdeen and played European football with both I think, certainly he did with Hearts. Scally's top league experience was fleeting though he was an important player for us when he first arrived. Whilst both were in the business in the main of stopping the opposition playing, Neilly Mac had infinitely more football about him. He kept it simple but was able to pick out excellent passes and rarely wasted a ball. Scally was at his most effective for us when the opposition had the ball. He's better compared to Stephen McKenna who is far more cynical and has even less football about him but is more mobile and can also cover centre half.

EDITED to add - I will concede though Macfarlane did indeed have an awful haircut.

Actually there's more to it than that - his family shortened their name to Malin when they first moved to the country.

Fair enough, it's still not his actual name now though.

Muggy, when was the re-signing of Riley confirmed? Could top off a great day here!

Riley hasn't signed yet.

Sorry, jumped the gun there. Has he not verbally agreed a new deal?

Now now, Dundee and VERBAL agreements/promises should never be used in the same sentence ever again. Tempting fate.

He was fucking hopeless when he came on, just looked totally yards off the pace and my abiding memory is off one off our slower players knocking it past him, might have been Glass, and McFarlane pulling on the guys shirt because the burst of pace(from glass) was too much for him.

My judgement probably is affected by his hair, just looked really, really strange, like no hair grew on the front part of his head...

On an unrelated note Sean O'Connors hair was the dugs baws.

He never had any pace and it would have been exaggerated at that point as he hadn't played for a month or so before that game. Never the less, in a Queens Team of the Century he would probably feature for me and many others and he was an integral part of the best side we put together for many a year. And he was a far better player than Scally ever was.
