Big Gus
That's the heart of Dundee's midfield from last season ripped out so it will be interesting to see how the new guys shape up. 2 good players gone, granted but I would argue O'Donnell was the heart of the midfield last season. The fact we've kept him and Riley along with the whole defense is a retention of way more players than I expected. I'm still a bit worried about Milne and Bayne up front, would prefer to see extended runs for McIntosh and Hyde.
bunglebonce
I can see Irvine filling in as a holding midfielder when necessary, if Dundee can just about get away with Benedictus at right-back.
vikingTON
Benedictus isn't good enough for this level in the brief spells I've seen him. I don't think Dundee's squad is any great shakes but they won't be at the bottom either. Maybe similar to one of the more forlorn squads Rae put out towards the end of his gin-sodden tenure. SaltyTON
Benedictus isn't good enough for this level in the brief spells I've seen him. I think the fact that despite them having about 12 players, and they still papped him out on loan to Montrose tells its own story!

Dream Oak Tree
You're a bit late with that news, he's in the squad list. Your official site must be quicker than the press unlike ours! That explains why Smith said there's one more signing to come.

Dream Oak Tree
It's tradition that our official site parades a new player minutes after signing. That's very efficient, can't you get the guys who run the web site to run the club?
Muggy
I can see Irvine filling in as a holding midfielder when necessary, if Dundee can just about get away with Benedictus at right-back. I agree. Although young Connor Rennie is probably a better right back than Benedictus, certainly it's his natural position. Irvine will be our first choice right back, but like you say, he'll be used in midfield too. Our squad is small but we have a lot of versatility - that'll be key. We're getting there. Of the out of contract senior players from last year not yet fixed up with other clubs: Hyslop and Holmes are training with Airdrie Utd. Harris, McGuffie and Weatherston are training with us, though in Harris' case at least that's a courtesy and he's hoping to get an SPL side or a club in England. EDITED to update for David Hutton signing for Accies.

He was on loan to Cowdenbeath for the second half of last season and scored 5 in 13 starts although I think some of those were penalties.
