Would you not put Nicky Clark ahead of Dobbie ?

He is, after all, our joint record holder for goals scored in a single season and has 2 medals and other accolades to show for it !

Of course, Del tops them both.

What, are you for real?

@Nithsdale Wanderer is having an absolute disaster here, that season in League 1 should be seen as nothing more than job done. We had the biggest sqaud, budget and were the only full time team.

Legends though....

They may not be legends, but at the same time the team broke a number of divisional records that season. Yes it was job done but it was achieved  in a manner over and above what had gone before. Maybe not legends, but a lot more than a footnote in our history.

Equally, the the cup final team will probably not all be considered legends individually, but as a team they will.

I couldn't agree more. Having watched Queens churn out some terrible football in the wilderness period (that was most of the 90s) in the so called seaside league it was extremely heartening to see the AJ team deliver the goods in such style.

It is always easy to look back and say that they only really performed to their comparative status but in that season Queens were the bookies second favourites for the title. Ayr United were actually the favoured team in the early betting shows - I know because I got most of my big ante post bet at a mix of 7/2 and 3/1. These are not odds that would suggest that anybody saw a landslide campaign coming and in fact the odds compilers actually predicted a very open affair.

That team and Nicky Clark accolade together is more of a "worthy" or "notable mention". Brought up in things like pub quiz questions or mentioned on a club history dvd (idea for the 100th year of the club [emoji12] ).

It was a great achievement it brought a bit of pride and happiness back after the season before it. I would say the Scottish cup run is a better achievement.

Is there any reason at all to think he might be?

Only if you inhabit a world where Mr Slippy is a legend who was harshly treated, Atkinson (of League 2) should be a regular starter in the Championship and Nicky Clark is more worthy of a place in the hall of fame than Stephen Dobbie.

Let's hope Lyle isn't going the same way as Robinson.

Not even on the bench today.

He hardly needs rested and is not reported as injured on OS.

Unless you know something the rest of us don`t  why would you even consider there is an issue here.

Lyle has been a key player either starting or off the bench and GN has regularly praised what he brings to the team and his professionalism around the club.

His view of Lyle is clearly polar opposite of how how he regarded Robinson.

For Lyle to "go the same way as Robinson" he would have to put in a season of disastrous performances which would result in him being rightly moved on.   It's not going to happen.

Only those with an agenda against the manager are suggesting there was anything behind the Robinson decision other than footballing reasons.  Likewise the decision to release Dowie and Higgins (another two legends presumably).  It's a nonsense notion that he doesn't like senior players in the group when he has signed Rankin and McFadden.

He will live or die by these decision, as well as others he makes over the course of the season, that's football management.  It's only fair he gets the chance at it with his own squad.  Whether you think he has built a good squad or not is very much up for debate, but you have to agree it's a better option than having players hanging about that he doesn't rate, but has to keep because some dafty on a forum thinks they are "legends".

I take it Lyle is out with a injury ?..

Kane has been poor I really thought he would have been a good signing got us a few goals but has done nothing for us so far. Works hard but that is it ..

How long are we going to keep playing McFadden in the hope that his quality from years ago somehow cones back.
