The Falkirk FC Thread

I would love a safe standing terrace on the East side of the ground as long as it was a quite decent size.

Give a small section of it to away fans which in my opinion would enhance the atmosphere

Having a split terrace like at Ayr or the old Brockville would be great for atmosphere imo.

Pretty straightforward really.
We'll need to cut out the occasional sloppiness we showed when we play against the better teams in the league though.

Morton are 3rd.

The 4th stand being built has but to be based on economics.

Can it be filled on a regular basis ?  Can it be incorporated into a hotel, sport complex, social club or something that would make it a cash cow ?

Above all it has to help make the whole stadium more marketable as a financial contributor rather than a drain on the club funds.

Is the old issue about being in the blast zone now defunct? Otherwise planning permission would be difficult.
About time there was a Holiday Inn in Falkirk (or Grangemouth for opposition fans).

Yep, that is not an issue anymore.

Need to get the council to f**k then

Problem is we have a hung council where the Tories and Labour (shame!) almost automatically vote against the SNP group who are a bit more sympathetic to FFC.
I always suspected that the blast zone issue was an excuse for the then council to run with their own anti FFC agenda.

I didn't ever think that was too likely, all the pie and the sky shit about built in sports villages and hotels is why we ended up with the ridiculous joke of a stadium we have now instead of a smaller complete one from the start.

However tourism is on the up in Falkirk now with the wheel and the keplies and some other stuff so it might be more viable than it was when the stadium was originally planned. I am sure there are over a million visitors a year now, a hotel right next to one of the biggest attractions could probably rake it in.

Maybe that guy hannigan that likes to play monoploy in the town would be willing to invest a bit in a hotel and run it, he already does a bit of sponsorship with the club.

Tourism in numbers is up. Tourism in revenue isn't, thanks to the town's two main tourist attractions being a) no-where near the town centre with nothing to encourage folk into the town centre, and b) next to massive car parks, so the majority of folk drive to them, have a wander around, get back in their cars and drive home.

The Wheel and (especially) the Kelpies are nothing more than nice-looking white elephants.

If the Falkirk Gateway project had gotten off the ground then things would've happened on the stadium front by now but it seems to have been a shambles from start to finish with cash being pished down the drain on developers who have developed absolutely hee haw.
