Our problem is quite clearly at center mid and full back. Sort out both these positions and pick between McGhee, Balatoni and Grant for center half and we are relatively sound. Probably need one striker and hope one of the others step up.

I reckon McGhees best position might actually be right back if he ever actually gets the chance to play there.

With Hippolyte I always get the impression he looks dejected after 15min because he's the only one there trying to create and when nothing comes off for him the entire team is f**ked.

If there had been someone on the other side or someone up front to actually finish it'd take the pressure of him. I think we'd see Hippolyte perform a little better/less focus on his bad days if our summer recruitment had been better (i.e. not Harris!)

Hippo like various players behind the single striker is being asked to defend, create and support all at the same time.

Its no surprise that none of our players behind a single striker are doing well. If Hippo is either up top or wide his job is simpler and not a multi task role of three things at once.

We of course dont have the striker to play the lone role well, not that hard to see we are a fkin mess in the last third

very fair and accurate summary id say

Stating more of the obvious than anything else,  Taiwo and Kerr havent featured for the last 5 games, O'Hara has shown no promise,  he used poor display from forwards, under Hartley its been singular forward and Sibbald to an extent wasnt the stand out last season, we were pish last season and he was the least pish. Sibbalds best season was  when he won all in house awards of young player of the year, player of the year and goal of the season award, citing his play as a 16yr old as his best season is way wrong.

Mr Fowler's research could clearly have been done reading on here and taking out the most common of criticisms and a bit of his own artistic license in adding stuff about a players he actually knows a bit about in Sibbald and McGhee

Think you’re being harsh on the author, Mr D; Given it’s an article in a national paper it’s a detached, balanced and mostly accurate assessment of our many failures. You can nit-pick certain points if you like, but there’s nothing fundamentally wrong in what he says. Eg his point about Kerr & Tiawo is true;  we’ve all been banging on about not playing them together for months, so to critisise about them not playing for the last 5 weeks rather misses the point.

Also, most weeks we’re lucky to get a couple of lines in the national press; or alternately, outlets like  the BBC often canny even get our players names right, so to get a lengthy piece which bothers to look at our current plight, and most importantly pretty much hits the nail on the head, makes it well worth the read.  Maybe a case of the truth hurts...

We are now on 6 games without a win, our worst run of the season so far, the Grangemouth tag, the stating obvious news not the current issues.

The only thing I took from it was

Through six games, Paul Hartley has used six different starting XIs and made 15 changes across those matches, winning none

I'm shocked that the club's social media platforms are still actively trying to encourage people to turn up on Saturday- after the last few weeks, have we not suffered enough?  Has the club became so sadistic that they actually want us to turn up and ruin another Saturday?  I'd rather spend a day with family at the cinema or bowling, or anything that isn't watching us get played off the park again - it will probably cost less and is guaranteed to be more entertaining!
